mutley 4,495
I have been flying Eileen this morning, brilliant, I was looking through your archive on OZx hoping to find an invasion version of the P51D? I found the "B" but cannot find one for this model. If there is one, could it be added as a non=urgent request? I have plenty of others to look at. Thanks, Joe
jankees 917
I have been flying Eileen this morning, brilliant, I was looking through your archive on OZx hoping to find an invasion version of the P51D? Thanks, Joe Good to hear you enjoy Eileen Joe! as for the invasion version, mmm, tricky one..there were only a few D models during the invasion, and as far as I have been able to find, they were all of the P-51D-5 variety. John Terrell, the modeller of warbirdsim has made a paintkit available with the specific demand NOT to make any paints for the D-5 model, since this will be one of the next WBS releases. So....if you can find me a P-51D-10 with full invasion stripes, I'd be happy to paint it...the D-5's all have a serial that starts with 413, and usually no fin fillet. Meanwhile, I couldn't resist doing another 23rd FG aircraft:
jankees 917
and my first Iwo paint: "My Achin ..." as piloted by the only ace of the 21st FG, Major Harry Crim Can you imagine, three hours like this, or more, to get to Japan, and then three more to get back.... jankees 917
the future is here: P-51D 44-72505 #602 "Meatball" of the 462nd FS/506th FG, as piloted by lts Edward Balhourn and Steven Treacy from Iwo Jima. The missions from Iwo were so exhausting that most aircraft had two assigned pilots.
mutley 4,495
That is taking nose art to another level, it's almost graffiti! Superb work JK.

jankees 917
OK, so nobody likes red tails, this one then, maybe?
mutley 4,495
Missed the red tail before, I have just reinstalled WBS P51 so will give her a go, she looks great in your shots. I think I prefer Arlene over Renee though? Any shots of the port side?
hurricanemk1c 195
Nice repaints Jankees! To me, something just doesn't look right in the film. Maybe it's the special effects being overdone or something, but it just doesn't look right
jankees 917
once you've painted all those diamonds, seems a shame not to use them a bit more...
PanzerFodder 0
Hello jankees. Just wondered if you ever made any repaints for the "Warbirdsim P51 restored part 2" ? can't seem to find any repaints for it anywhere! although most of the aircraft in that pack are two seater versions so that may be the reason for that ?. Cheer's...Graham... BTW: I saw that North American P-51D-20-NA "Jumpin Jacques" in part two, was built as # 44-72035 and assigned to the 332nd fighter group "The Tuskegee Airmen" http://www.warbirdsi...nt=Galleries/FS maybe a red tail plane as she was in 1945 would be a nice project for this one . Or even "Sweet and lovely" would be a nice single seater to go with the little rebel http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=316894
jankees 917
I never bought part 2, so never made any paints for it either. But there's a good chance my paints for part 1 will fit. The later ones have small differences, but my guess is you can try those as well without to much problems. Check them out and see if they fit? As to jacques, nobody knows what she looked like while serving, so that is a tricky project. Sweet and lovely looks nice, but there are already so many mustangs I want to paint, and the a2a version is also on the horizon... Cheers, Jankees
PanzerFodder 0
Ah! thanks for that, I'll give a repaint from part one a go, to see if I can get it to work . Cheer's...Graham... PS: very nice story here about "Sweet and Lovely" and "Little Rebel" These two aircraft were piloted by twin brothers, both survived the war and when on to great things in the USAAF afterwards http://www.crazyhorseap.be/Mustangs/Aces/Bill%20Pattillo/BillPattillo1.htm I like happy endings
jankees 917
here's another D (for the liitle friends package, but maybe it will fit 2 as well?)
PanzerFodder 0
Nice job jankees. Little Friends repaints do fit version two, but the exhausts do not display correctly, it's a simple fix once you look at the the DDS files but I would rather not start cutting up peoples hard work, and the version one paints also fit ok, except the seats are different . Cheer's..Graham...
jankees 917
by all means, if you can make them fit, cut up my paints! It is nice that they model all different variants of the Mustang, but it makes repaints a bit more tricky.. You know there yet another package, of the P-51D-5, coming?
PanzerFodder 0
Thanks for the info, I will more thank likely just stick to my part 2, can't really afford another major add on right now anyway I agree its very nice to have all the models, and the default paints are the best I have ever seen, even better than my A2A planes, but TBH once you have used the accusim its very hard to go back to the normal FSX stuff  and now I have a stand alone throttle set up, I can hear all the stuff like landing gear and flaps engage without having to look at them which I find a big help as I dont have Trak IR yet. But then again the nice bubble canopy on the Warbirdsim P51 is spot on for viewing new scenery and for making "from the cockpit screen shots" . Cheer's...Graham...
