Aircraft Aviation 2
Hi everyone, At the reccommendation of Jesus (Bojote) from the Avsim Forums, I have downloaded the .rar FPS limiting file. However, all I have downloaded is literally an rar file. What do I do? There is no manual, and the file will not open in notepad so I cannot see the contents. Any help? Jack :001_th_smiles89: Hi Jack, A RAR file is just another type of zipped file. If you search online for a RAR reader that will unzip it. I think I managed to use winzip to do it at some point in the past but can't remember when. You have to let winzip have RAR files added to it's associated file system. Good Luck and I will try and source what I actually did myself. Regards Brian
Aircraft Aviation 2
Thank you very much Brian; a very helpful post!!! I myself had heard of people unzipping this file but I was utterly confused because I thought files had to be .zip files to unzip them. Jack :001_th_smiles89:
Aircraft Aviation 2
Hi Brian, I downloaded WinRar and have used the prgoram sucessfully. However, I wish to start FSX how I usually do. I useually double click the REX2 Executable, than click "Fly Now!" fro mthe REX2 menu. This way ensures that the REX2 WaySys Starts up, along with some other REX2 related stuff. Can I achieve this? Also, at the top, do I select D3D9 or OGL from the drop-down menu? mutley 4,498
D3D9 would be my choice, I don't think you can get it to fire up REX2 then FSX, you have to fire up FSX directly from the batch file it creates
needles 1,013
Hi Jack Joe's choice would be mine also. Having said that I have not reinstalled REX, since my reformatting because I'm doing the review for FEX and don't want any conflicts with REX appearing. Once the review is done I will then be running both REX and FEX in tandem. Hope you manage to get it sorted. Regards Brian
Aircraft Aviation 2
Thanks Brian. Joe, if that is so, how do you use REX2 with the FPS Limiter (I mean how do you use the WaySys, live weather, etc)?
rob16584 42
Moving slightly off-topic, there is good freeware program called 7-Zip which handles all kinds of compressed files. Easy to use and does the job perfectly

MartinW 0
Joe, if that is so, how do you use REX2 with the FPS Limiter (I mean how do you use the WaySys, live weather, etc)? Jack, start flight sim with the batch file. When flight sim is up and running, hit shift enter to get back to the desk top, and fire up REX. If you click the "I just want to fly" button in REX, it will fire up the WaSys panel. REX is actually very flexible.
Aircraft Aviation 2
Hi Lads, I have sorted everything out. I ticked the "Enable weather engine with FSX startup" option within REX. FSX + WaySys now starts with the double clicking of the batch file. Thanks everyone! Jack
