Team Mutley for MEBAR 2011?

Recommended Posts

After our fantastic success at GAAR 2011 when Team Mutley swept the board to become World Champions...

Seriously, though, I'm hoping to raise another team to represent our Hangar on MEBAR 2011. Same routine as GAAR 2011:

1. Fly the Test Flight and record individual times - this will be averaged,

2. Each team member to fly 1 Leg,

We'll need to fly the same aircraft type - with GAAR 2011 we chose the DC-3 - but we've got time to decide on an alternative.

Please let me know if you're interested - thanks! :thum:

Cheers - Dai.

Thanks John and Kieran! And thanks Rob - if no-one puts up for the team (only 4 members needed), then we'll call in your offer! :thum:

On the aircraft front, it'd better be default or popular freeware, I guess. Any suggestions... :whis:

We've got a week to decide and each fly the Test Flight - I'm fairly relaxed (There's a first time for everything! - Ed).

Cheers - Dai.

Watching with interest Dai, I've got two entries in already and maybe a 3rd to come, not sure I can fit this one in too but you can rely on me to help if there is a void.

Try advertising in the main forum too :icon_thumbup:

Dai,

Count me in, if you are prepared to put up with the boisterous Aussie in the outfit.

With the individual entries I am looking at having (probably five), an extra Flight Leg will be nothing.

Are we using any specific MSFS version?

Cheers

Andrew

P.S. I'm prepared to fly anything.

Thanks Andrew - that means Team Mutley is Go for MEBAR 2011! :thum:

As Kieran says, I don't think the sim base (FS9/FSX) matters, but we've got to select an aircraft. As long as it's available, I'm happy to accept your views, Lads!

Guys,

For my two bobs worth, I like the Miles M.65 'Gemini' or M.38 'Messenger' or any of the Auster variants. Basic rudimentary aircraft to test your flying/navigation kills.

A great freeware range is available (particularly at Britsim), some of which are FSX compatible. I only have them installed in FS9, but I might install them in FSX and do some test flying.

I am also comfortable with the DH.89 and already have that installed in FSX. Thought about entering it in the rally but every man and his dog was flying one (sorry Kieren).

Cheers

Andrew

Like I said, I'm easy - and it'll be an opportunity to try a new aircraft as I tend to get stuck with a favo(u)rite...

What do you think, John - Dragon or Auster - or something (completely) different? :whis:

We can then get on amd do the Test Flight.

Cheers - Dai.

No preference on my part. You'll have to point me to where to download them.

I guess I'd better get busy on my own flights too. I spent a good chunk of time last night making those six airport diagrams I posted.

Would we each fly a test flight and average them. Would need to agree on height, power settings, weight, etc. for consistency.

John

Kieran - have tried to download the Britsims Auster A2/45 several times (more than 5!!), but no success. The file downloads but cannot be unzipped - is there another source of the zip?

Or, choose another Auster model! Dave Garwood's, maybe? :whis:

Must be our shared broadband connection - tried again this a.m. and zip downloaded and un-zipped O.K. Thanks, Andrew! :thum:

Will install later today and have a couple of circuits. A quick look at David Molyneaux's Performance Notes shows the Auster to be a good possibility. Maybe we should all have a try? :whis:

Cheers - Dai.
