KeithD 0
I have submitted a PIREP for Leg One of the MEBAR 2011. However I have had no confirmation that it has been accepted, as is the case with others I know who have also posted. How will I know that it has been accepted? Unless we are informed before hand, then the only way we will know is when the results are posted, and if I've got it wrong that will be too late. Thanks, Keith
Andrew Godden 943
Keith, Unfortunately, we don't have a system whereby we can confirm the receipt of PIREPs as the backend process on the admin side is predominantly manual. Speaking as one member of the rally committee, once the results are posted for each Flight Leg, and if we find there has been a problem, some latitude will be given. The objective of the event is about having fun, not crucifying participants over some doubt as to the receipt of a PIREP. Regards Andrew Post Edit: Keith, after you press the PIREP submit button you should get a screen confirming your PIREP has been received. To further ease your mind, I have quickly trawled through some 140 PIREPs to date and can confirm there is at least one from you. :001_th_smiles89:
mutley 4,498
Hi Keith I am the mug ahem lucky person who processes the PIREPs and can confirm we received your leg 1 time of 63.17 :001_th_smiles89: As Andrew says, when you click the submit button, the software checks all the required fields are filled in and will show an error straight away if not, if successful then you get re-directed to another page on the server confirming its receipt, it doesn't do that until it has sent a mail to the committee with your submission. It not a 100% guarantee we have got it ok but it's as good as it gets! The PIREP's are not really due until the advertised time so times for leg 1 will not appear until the 24th of April the as shown on the flight schedule page. PS, Re your comment on the PIREP, I think the ALD NDB only has a 30 Nm range so don't waste money on that servicing! Regards, Joe
allardjd 1,853
From good old FS Navigator... Can that altitude be right??? The field is 291 feet.
Tim_A 997
Maybe it fell down the cliff? Plan-G shows it at 288ft elevation in FSX.
allardjd 1,853
Maybe it fell down the cliff? Maybe - or maybe it's wrong in FS9. At least they got the airfield elevation right. I have Flight1's UT Europe and FS Genesis Europe 76 m terrain mesh loaded too, so no telling what's going on here.
KeithD 0
Joe and Andrew, Thanks for your comments. I made a mess up of my first submission, using my Forum ID rather than my MEBAR ID. Because of that I resubmitted the PIREP and was expecting some "guidance" on "how to follow the instructions." As with all the VA groups events I've seen, I'm always amazed by the amount of effort that goes on behind the scenes, and the commitment of the admin's. I'm having a really good time, so my thanks go to all of you. :001_th_smiles89: Keith

Please accept my apologies I will log in and do it now. As I recall I only have your leg 1 PIREP so far is that correct? Regards Joe (Mut)

allardjd 1,853
Loved your comment on the second PIREP. (I get copies). Hang in there - you're doing great. Those who say that it's all going exactly as they planned it are... inventive - yeah, that's it - inventive. We are all kind of making it up as it goes along. I plan mine to a fair-thee-well but build in a long downwind and final and eyeball the length of the downwind with one eye and the stopwatch with the other when I make the initial pass over the airport. I make a command decision (do you know what SWAG means?) about just how long a downwind I really need. I can guess as well as anyone. John
bes1971 0
I note that some results for Leg 4 have already been published ahead of the chop off date. Mine is NOT one of them (Pilot #98 American Scout time 72.61) I did receive an acknowledgement but I am a little concerned that my meagre effort may have got lost! Please confirm that you have indeed received my Leg 4 Pirep. Thanks, my first Mutley Rally & certainly will not be my last.
mutley 4,498
Bruce, All received and posted, sorry for the delay. Officially the PIREP 4 posting window has now closed and the results are up.
