Dambuster Raid re-creation by Channel 4

Recommended Posts

Back in May, Channel 4 aired a program on their re-creation of Operation Chastise. No Type 464 'Provisioning' Lancs were available, so they used a DC-4 flown by pilots from Buffalo Airways. Here are a couple of clips - the first is of the bombing run, shot close to the (artificial) dam wall - there's a 30 sec advert so be patient and don't be upset by the enthusiastic (uncensored!) comments by the camera crew:

And a second clip from the DC-4's underbelly camera together with pilot/co-pilot commentary:

I sure hope they show the program again. Anyone know if it's down-loadable? Sch-yeah - "Right On Saigon" - brilliannt! :thum:

Hwyl - Dai.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

John

Not possible to get it here (country). YouTube is indicating that, so no chance to have a look at it. Same mentioned before from John.

luckily, for you chaps, i know of a cunning way around this having had US/Continental European streaming websites with country exclusive content block me before....

edit - links removed temporarily....i can't hot-link them to my top-secret system apparently.

No joy, Simi. Your links still get me the same message. I guess since our credit rating was lowered by S&P we're persona non grata @ YouTube.

Thanks for trying.

John

hmm, ok well the only other way i can think of is to use an anonymous proxy server.... try www.diggingtunnels.com and copy/paste the following URLs for the Dambusters videos on YouTube:

1st part =

2nd part =

let me know how you get on.... if they work, i'll tell you the science bit!

John

Entering www.diggingtunnels.com in the address bar of IE8 takes me to a "Subscribe to our Group" page, with a bunch of pop-up ads over the top of it. I'm not subscribing to their silly-ass group.

It's OK, guys. I'll survive this.
