British Airways, Like its BOAC predecessor, has had a long association with Boeing. It continues to this day. Heres just a few of my fleet!...............

the last of the BOAC colours

the B707 was an early recipient of the new livery

The Boeing-Vertol 234 was used on oil rig support flying from Aberdeen. They survived until a fatal accident grounded the fleet and they were soon disposed of.

Then came the classy "Landor" Scheme

not all aircraft carried the coat of arms on the tail.

South African subsidiary Comair carried full titles but never flew in the UK, they were the only B727s to carry BA titles

then came the controversial World Tails colour scheme, seen here on a German subsidiary Deutche BA aircraft, there were many variations.

although colourful, they were not very poular with many people and eventually just one of the designs was used the Portsmouth Dockyard flag is now the recognised logo of BA Aircraft and it bears more than a passing resemblance to the original colours.

Personally i always preffered the landor scheme as it just looked so classy, Its grey/blue idea was also unashamedly copied by United Airlines and others!

Thanks for viewing, comments welcome.

An epic post! You have a very patriotic fleet there Alan, it's great to see the the evolution from BOAC to BA via liveries, I certainly remember most of them.

One I was not aware of was the 727, one of my favourites!

Thanks for posting :yesa:

Great shots Alan - a nice stroll through BA's past

Do I see the Tinmouse II 737-200 in there?

The B737s are the various incarnations of the Eric Cantu/ Kittiwake freeware model Hurricane. Its a great aircraft to fly and has all sorts of nice touches. The 737-200 is my favourite of all the 737 versions as it was the most pure of the design requirements. The current ones are actually BIGGER than the 707 it was designed to act as a feeder for!!
