Home sweet home.

Recommended Posts

As I was out testing the JF Comet today I came across a chance to take a shot with some real life interest to me.

In the shot below I can fairly accuratly pinpoint the flat where I currently live, the location of the house we're moving to in mid december, my parents house, my uncles house, one of my aunts flat, my grandmothers flat, the three different flats where I lived while growing up and all the schools I've gone to before I started in College.

And this is without the smallest roads activated in UTX. If I turned those on I could probably pinpoint those locations down to the correct pixel ;)

Sometimes the accuracy of FSX (with add-ons) is just amazing.

it's a great feeling when the scenery below you in the sim really is as 'real as it gets'...i have UTX also and can name every street, pick out my house and even my office at RAF Brize Norton from 3000ft in my Cherokee 6, such a good feeling.

Thanks guys.

After turing on the last stage of roads in UTX I could, as expected, pinpoint the location even better. Since UTX isn't photoreal the individual buildings aren't there, but using the roads for reference it's still pretty easy to find the right locations.

The only road that didn't show up is the small gravel road leading in to our new house, but I really didn't expect it to be there either consider it's a small private road.

Without giving to much details away, to find my current flat you start at the roundabout in the right side of the image, and use the exit that's missing (down towards the leading edge of the wing) and continue up to the large barren snow cowered area closer to the right side of the main fuselage.

The new house is located on the left side of the fuselage and in front of the plane, close to the small lake between the two larger bodies of water.

now we know where you live - Gents, grab the eggs and flour bombs!

on a more serious note, i installed UTX with most detailed settings from the start, i'm surprised at the difference when switching off certain levels of detail.

If I was worried about getting egged by you guys I wouldn't have placed my pin on the members map as accuratly ;)

Besides, you need to get up to sweden first...

I've had UTX running with everything on except for the RD4 Minor Urban Roads (residential) feature since I installed, but considering the extra level of detail that provided I can imagine that switching of things could mean pretty much for the overall effect.

How do you Guys find the minor streams and rivers? with UTX Canada I got a lot of rivers running straight through roads and also some of the Airfields :( in the end I could not stand anymore so I turned them off.

Still it's darn good value for money, considering how much ground it covers in one shot ;) .

Cheer's...Graham...
