UKJim 502
In my newly painted Katana 4x I jumped in and went to the runway - announced the takeoff and WHAM! A plane landed practically on top of me and crashed up my ride. So being FSX it reset OK lets try again. The problem was I performed the walk around checks and all seemed fine; so I took off and all was dandy in the air no problem (although I did notice my fuel cap being missing) Landed just right and was pleased with that but then half way through the taxi my engine packed in - I had to use the tow to move it on to the grass and perform some fixing. The crash damaged my engine bad and when the flight reset it did not revert back (as the katana remembers your moves) All is good now managed to fix it and taxi / park at Darrington. So mental note - next time I take a bump due to poor FSX AI - perform a service and maintenance check before flight hehe. Just wait for this guy to land... All good! Away we go No fuel cap!!!!!! Darrington here we come Some construction going on I can see the runway Line-up to land Going in Top banana but better hurry else this guy is going to catch me Taxi all good so far... Then BAM! Engine failure Lets fix this off the taxiway
SEATAC 400
Cool shots. Why'd your engine blow on the taxi way? Run out of oil?
PanzerFodder 0
Very nice shots Jim, thats one heck of a good view from the cockpit on that plane . and bit of engine damage every now and again makes the sim feel a bit more relistic IMO Cheer's...Graham...
rob16584 42
Nice shots Jim, very wintery
UKJim 502
I think it was just due to the fact I had a crash before and it remembered the damage, the oil was fine and everything else was good apart from the engine! Superb plane wud recommend it! Only negative is it takes ages to fix if broken and that's precious flying time in my eyes! Goin out in it again today I think! I modified mine to have autopilot so I can take in scenery Cheating I know but hey ho!
TedG 0
Oh man I recently flew a Twin Otter into the same airfield after ducking through a nasty snow storm to the northeast (coming in from Castlegar CYCG I think). When the wind changed coming down the valley to the north I had to do the approach from the opposite end you did and it took me two go-rounds after underestimating the squeeze on the right side on final. Great shots...I really like that valley area in Orbx.
aeromax 10
Nice shots and trip, Jim. So, Katana with an autopilot, hehe... cool idea. I had a problem like that last year on a Katana (real) which I flew. After airborne around 00:30 h, no further chance to continue the flight and landed again for repair and maintenance. An oil leak. So, have "all the time" a look at oil-temp.-press and cylinder head temperature . Cheers.
UKJim 502
Yeah the opposite approach is difficult hard to turn and line up in time
Sabre 28
Very nice shots Jim, thats one heck of a good view from the cockpit on that plane . and bit of engine damage every now and again makes the sim feel a bit more relistic IMO Cheer's...Graham... You need to get yourself one of these Graham, it's right up your street - great little aircraft, superb for buzzing around all that new Orbx scenery you have just bought. On topic great shots Jim, it's a nice little trip Concrete to Darrington. Good job mate
UKJim 502
I've been flying this plane today all over the place - landing just fine etc - do a service and maintenance everything was perfect every time! Glad it was the crash and not my flying
aeromax 10
Well done, Jim further flighthours´ll come
Tim_A 997
I would have expected it to run out of fuel from leaving the filler cap off... (or maybe the Katana isn't sophisticated enough to model that)
UKJim 502
probably did but I didnt look - I was too busy fuming at the damn thing
