Do You Think This Was LOUD!

Recommended Posts

Just speculating here...

I think it's from global warming.... :???:

No, just kidding! :mrhappy:

Because of the blast shields visible behind the AC, I believe this might have been a full-power run-up.

In flight, there is a ram air effect resulting from the airspeed forcing air into the engine inlet, keeping the

pressure in that area relatively high, or at least keeping if from becoming very low.

At zero airspeed, the engine compressor is sucking the air in, no doubt producing a pronounced low pressure,

high velocity area just ahead of the compressor stages. Adiabatic cooling occurs because the air is trying to

expand as it passes through that zone of reduced pressure. (You know the drill - if you compress a gas it

becomes warmer, if you let it expand it becomes cooler) If the temperature and humidity conditions are right

(i.e. temperature and dewpoint are close together), condensation results.

That's my story until I hear a better one.

:sadblinky: Curse that global warming. I knew all you non-believers should have listened to me. :???:

Actually, I read about this a few months ago in New Scientist, can't remember the explanation in detail, but it was similar to your hypothesis.

Personally I still think it's an entity from the spirit world, or perhaps one of the passengers was a medium and had just exuded a stream of ectoplasm. If we had hung around a bit longer it would almost certainly have transformed into an ethereal form.

Or even an alien. :giggle:

P.S. ‘Adiabatic cooling’… I like it. Respect! :mrhappy:
