SEATAC 400 Posted April 27, 2012 Report Share Posted April 27, 2012 The Enterprise was never intended to go into space. It was a test vehicle only. Though it was briefly considered as a replacement after Challenger exploded in 1986, but it would have been too costly to make spaceworthy. You can see the Enterprise doesn't even have thermal tiles on it. Just black paint. That photo of the 747 with the shuttle on its back and the T-38 alongside is great.
