Falcon BMS 4.32

Recommended Posts

Well it was always going to take something special to drag me away from FSX but I must admit to being more than just a little unfaithful recently. The funny thing is I haven’t had my head turned by the latest mover and shaker game with super HD graphics. No indeed a rather more mature old bird has been satisfying my needs.

Having bought the last but one PC Pilot and read it cover to cover (as you do) I happened upon an article about Falcon BMS 4.32 which is a modification based on the original Microprose Falcon game released in 1998 (Not Falcon 4.0 Allied Force).

The game has been completely revitalised and now boasts a full clickable 3D cockpit with Track IR compatibility. The F16 comes complete with a manual and all checklists and involves full Ramp Start (Cold Start). It also has fully operational weapons systems and a dynamic campaign with things to shoot at and things that shoot back.

This modification by Benchmark Simulations is available free from their website and is worth a look even if you just fancy flying an F16 Falcon.Benchmark Simulations

There are some wonderful YouTube Tutorials to get you started though I have to say it isn’t for the casual flyer it is a simulation in its own right. I’ve been on with it now for three weeks and have just mastered the ramp start and pre-flight checks. This week has seen me progress to Take-off and basic navigation.

Below is an excellent video from the guys at SimHQ.

Looking at the video, I can see why you have been moonlighting. Pretty cool  and all for under 40 bucks :woot:Nothing like breaking up the middle of a boring flight with some bomb runs and a little dogfighting.

The guys that made it have certainly been working hard because it looks fantastic. Looks like they have surpased the game and have become a full fledged flying sim.

This reminds me to get it installed again, all it needs for install is the original Falcon 4 CD that can be had very cheaply these days from Ebay and elsewhere.

I bought Falcon 4.0 when it first came out, amazing it still has legs today after all those years, Falcon 4.0 was the military flight sim I did most online time with back in the day too.

Just watched the video again, the SAM launch scenes look scarily realistic!
