dodgy-alan 1,587
A couple of BAe Hawks from the St Athan station flight having close encounters with the newest hazard to low flying aircraft..the much maligned Wind Turbines ! (personally I rather like them) Mid Wales Cornwall Think about this, If thats the size of the propellors, How big was the aircraft they came off of? !!

allardjd 1,853
It would have to be something Russian! They kind of put me in mind of the Osprey, but are big even for those. ...personally I rather like them... I hope you mean that aesthetically. Take it from one who had his career in the energy business, they are not a silver bullet, by any means. As part of a multi-source mix, they have a place, but they are not as efficient or effective as the proponents would have us believe. Don't be sucked in by the "nameplate" rating. They can seldom produce that much - on average more like a quarter of that or less, based on actual field experience. They are infinitely better than solar, however. Anytime a proponent of a generation source feels compelled to quantify it in units of how many households it will supply, you can take that as a synonym for "small". Serious power plants exceed a thousand megawatts of capacity. Those 5, 7 or 10 MW windmills are small potatoes, even on the rare occasions when you can get that much out of them. Great screenshots, but no more than I'd expect from you. John
