petermcleland 48
Today I flew the Carbon Cub from Ketchikan to Skagway. I took some video on the way and here it is. The video runs for a bit over 12 minutes and it is of HD quality so click the resolution up to 1080p and then click the "Full Screen" icon at bottom right. Set the sound volume about halfway. Thanks for looking BTW...I reached Skagway in the evening and those viewers with the patience to sit through about 12 minutes may be interested to see how the lengthened tree shadows play on the aircraft on the runway Thanks for looking
mutley 4,498
Hi Peter, Lots of good action, I see the temptation to perform a roll is never far away, loved the approach to the landing. Do those tree shadows change over time? Thanks for posting Cheers, Joe
petermcleland 48
Hi Peter, Lots of good action, I see the temptation to perform a roll is never far away, loved the approach to the landing. Do those tree shadows change over time? Yes Joe...every tree and building has a shadow that moves with the Sun and falls on your aircraft if it in the right place...In the later evening, if you park in tree shadows they will move with the Sun every few seconds and will also move back and forth with the wind. Clouds can block out the Sun and so can terrain so one side of a mountain can be in shade because of itself and on that side the trees will have no shadows. In that video the Sun is on the left and the near mountain sides are in shade and only the trees along the tops that catch the Sun cast shadows and you can see the cowling, from the cockpit shots, sometimes catching the light and shadows off those top trees.
