allardjd 1,853 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Share Posted September 7, 2012 Yeah, they were pinkos, but there was a lot of that late 60's and early 70's music that was pretty good if you could tune out the politics, which wasn't hard. They were free to say what they said be cause the military had defended and helped guarantee their freedoms over the years. A favorite line from the time (non-musical) was along the lines of, "...the feminist movement lost a lot of support when they burned their bras." I can't recall who said it but I liked it. Being artistically talented does not make them politically any smarter than anyone else, something today's entertainers who use their "pulpit" to espouse political positions could stand to take note of. A musician or actor (even Clint Eastwood) or other "celebrities'" political opinions carry no more weight than yours, mine or the guy who rides the tailgate of the trash pickup truck but many of them seem to think they should be permitted to think for the rest of us.
