I decided that the Catalina was a bit of a handful for my North Island tour and on a good recommendation, I chose this C206G Amphibian by Carenado.

With the rear seats out, there is plenty of room for all my clobber.

Taxying out for the first very short leg from Ardmore.

I expect to be back here in a week or three.

One of the aims in this first leg is to try a couple of water landings with the extra weight of all my clobber and I have headed into wind towards the lee of that headland for the first.

The touchdown was pretty smooth but noisy with the new AccuFeel installed.

However, the sea is pretty calm in the lee here and I have switched off the engine to see how noisy it would be to sleep in the cabin.

Airborne again and I have circled to make a pass under the "Coat Hanger" bridge...I'm not sure if its model here has the "Nippon Clipons".

That imposing old buiding with a clocktower on the waterfront above the N366DL in my picture looks a likely spot to moor for the night.

These docks are too busy...

Here is the moment of touchdown and I was very pleased with it.
