Hi folks, As ever I drifted from FSX for a year or two, now wish to come back. I want to recreate real low cost carrier ops from a base in England, to holiday destinations around Europe. The thing is, i've left simming for so long I don't know what's good and what isn't any more. I don't even know if my PC is good enough! (2TB HDD, Intel i7-4790k@4.00GHz, 16GB RAM, GTX 980 Graphics Card). I'm looking at purchasing P3D academic. Then, perhaps the A320X or the PMDG 737NGX. Then I need to buy everything from generic country scenery, to airport specific scenery to weather generation and

What an awesome reply, thanks Jess. Where do I change my texture sizes? I don't see the option in the FSX scenery settings. Thanks so much!

Hi everyone So I was flying the 737NGX from UK2000's EGNM to Schiphol by FlyTampa, finally ORBX's global and vector scenery installed. I have a GTX 980 graphics card. Descending into EHAM, FSX:SE crashed and I got the dreaded "FSX ran out of virtual memory" message. Is it time for me to upgrade my graphics card? I sort of think I shouldn't really be having problems, I have 4GB of VRam, and I don't run FSX on full settings. What do I do? Thanks everyone.

Planning to Migrate to P3D. I need your help.

Thanks everyone, some nice contrasts in opinion. For the moment I will stick with FSX:SE. However I would like to thank everyone for taking the time out to explain the details to me. -
Hello everyone! Could someone answer me a quick question regarding GSX whilst I don't have access to the manual, Is there a way you can either set a specific time for boarding (e.g. an exact 30 minutes) or have an indefinite time that can be ended as soon as needed by the player? All this is in aid of getting accurate departure times so that my weather predictions are accurate. Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I wasn't exactly sure where to post this. Thanks again everyone.

Thank you Joe & Matt, sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. I never knew FSX:SE was optimised better than the original FSX, you've given me more faith in my existing set up. The thing that put me off was when I was doing a Manchester - Berlin flight and FSX suddenly CTD'd half way there, it's never done that before. I dived in head first and bought the new Schiphol scenery and am running it at around 20FPS with no OOM issues as of yet. I guess you just saved me a few bucks on a brand new sim. Is P3D really that much better at performance than FSX:SE? -
Hi everyone I was playing FSX the other day and an hour into my flight it CTD'd. Annoying, anyway I have decided to bite the bullet and migrate over to P3D, understanding it is going to cost me quite a bit to do so. My plan is to save up an amount of money and buy most things in one go, so I can have a fully furnished game ready to go. I need your help with recommendations so I know how much I need to save. I fly 99% low cost airline operations from Britain to Europe, so I was looking at the flightsimlabs A320X. Looking at the website it doesn't look to be 100% compatible. Wou

Thanks Joe! I must admit I had a sense of achievement when I got it working, these things are sent to test us I suppose

Problem solved folks. I had WOAI bgl's still in the traffic.bgl folder. I thought there must be a conflict as I had tried every single path variation possible. Thank you for everyone's time once again.

Guys, i'm really sorry to complicate things but I uninstalled MT6 and did a fresh install, using the recommend directory which is now C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic My fsx.cfg now reads SimObjectPaths.0=SimObjects\Airplanes SimObjectPaths.1=SimObjects\Rotorcraft SimObjectPaths.2=SimObjects\GroundVehicles SimObjectPaths.3=SimObjects\Boats SimObjectPaths.4=SimObjects\Animals SimObjectPaths.5=SimObjects\Misc SimObjectPaths.6=C:\MyTraffic Professional\MyTraffic\Aircraft My scenery.cfg now reads [Area.137] Title=MyTraffic

Thanks for the suggestion Joe, unfortunately my folder set up is different, i'm definitely pointing it in the right direction, how frustrating. Thank you all the same!
-
Please can I have some help installing this? I'm now ready to pull my hair out and i've been on it for hours. I'd post on the developers forum but i'm still waiting for my confirmation email. So i'm installing MT6 into FSX:SE. I've followed the manual down to the letter. My installation path for MT6 is: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\MyTraffic\MyTraffic I then had to edit my scenery.cfg file to show: [Area.139] Title=MyTraffic Local=D:\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\MyTraffic\MyTraffic\Scenery Active=TRUE Required=FALSE Layer=137 (That's where the

Thank you to everyone who has taken time to reply to my topic. I think I have it sussed now - no need to use the flight plan function (it bases destination weather on the current sim time which is odd). I just use the station weather feature. I can input my destination airport and read the weather for the current sim time (whether that be real time or more likely, in the past) and also forecast up to 8 hours in advance. Alt and tab works too. Have I got that right? If i'm flying "historically" at 9am today, ASN station will forecast from THAT time along as I have lock t

Thank you for the replies Tim and Brett. I've dug a little deeper into ASN's workings. One thing I can do is export my SimBrief flight plan as a FSX flight plan and import it into ASN. This gives me a detailed report for both airports and every waypoint. The only problem is storing the METAR and actually learning how to read it, it's all gibberish to me! The only problem is I cannot update it should the weather change at the destination en-route.
-
Sorry CC I have a poor way of explaining myself! I guess what i'm asking for is a sort of interactive map that would show the weather, windspeed and QNH for a specific airport. I have ASN locked to historical sim time, so that I get accurate weather for the time that I choose to fly. I've never really looked at ASN but with Windows 7 I can't swap back to the UI during flight as FSX seems to black screen and crash.

Hello again everyone So having the perfect set up (PMDG 737NGX, SimBrief, Navigraph Charts, Active Sky Next and a plethora of scenery) I am really enjoying low cost operations across Europe. There's one stumbling block however, and that's the weather. I just cannot predict it. I mean, it's accurate obviously as ASN does a great job. For instance, I tend to fly "in the past" but on the same day. For example if I was to set up a flight plan now I might fly a 0920 Manchester - Milan Bergamo under the real world flight number. I actually did this today. As I approache

Thanks guys, i'll have a look at those options, hopefully the new 737-300 will be out soon.

Just a Quick Thank You

Alan, i've seen all the YouTube videos on Kai Tak and it beggars belief that that was an accepted practise in the real world! No room for error at all, but shows the pilots skill. -
Hi everyone I'm looking to recreate Jet2 operations out of LBA and was wondering what the best payer add-ons are for the above aircraft? I would like them to be as detailed and as accurate as possible. Thank you!

Hi everyone I just thought i'd pop this thread on to say a massive thank you to all the members of Mutley's for helping me over the past few months. You've given me advice on everything from a whole new PC right down to where to source EZDock files for my FSX. Therefore a huge thank you to everyone who has helped me out in one way or another, even if it was just an anecdote in one of my threads, I know my inconsistent replying skills need some work, but I always try press the "Thank You" box (great idea by the way). You've made a newbie simmer feel very welcome, and not so stupid. I'

EDIT: Apologies I was talking about a different Physics add on!

Hi Bruce, Just wanted to check in and say that i've got it all working, your recommendation of alt+enter worked a treat. Thank you my friend, you helped a lot!
-
Well that was easier than I thought, thank you Bruce! Obviously FSX still throws a wobbly should I minimise it, but the update to v1.18 has solved everything. Now I just need to get my hands on the 737NGX camera set, anyone got any ideas? Thank you once again.

Right guys, apologies for the delay. I'm struggling to see which version my EZDok is. I imagine it will be the most current one though, as I only downloaded it last week (i've had the code for a long time though). I can access the EZCA config .exe no problems at all, and can access the "configure FSX" button fine. The problem comes when FSX:SE has gone into full screen mode, if I try minimise FSX and come back to it, the sound is still there but I just get a black screen. The other game I play (Attila: Total War) does exactly the same thing. Both of these are run from Steam. The er

Thanks guys, i've invested in Accu-Feel which is quite good, but i'll report back with my EZDok settings etc once i've finished this flight to Copenhagen. Hopefully I might be able to finally get it working with help from you guys!
