Aircraft Aviation 2
Hello all! A few pictures of my first post-PPL passenger flight with my father, flown on 12-5-2013, C172N G-ROLY (1979). All photos were taken from the passenger seat by my father, thankfully he behaved during the flight, having informed him that it's not hard for me to eject him. Pre-Flight: Taxiing Out: Lined up RWY24 for takeoff: Climbing Out: Cruise Pics: Carsington Water coming into view: Top Hagg woods near our house, they seem to have cut down some of the forest: Our Village: That small black dot imbetween the triangle of red cars (the one with the black roof is our MX5) is mum waving: Steep turn, just about pulling 3G: Back towards Worksop: Overhead the field, descending deadside before positioning for downwind RWY24: Nobody in the back: On final RWY 24, winds were 16 knots gusting to 18, so had to concentrate for this one! Getting closer, camera blur due to turbulence no less! Down safely, re-fuelling: Jack
brett 2,316
A super series of shots. Glad you didn't eject your Dad so we could get a full show. The second shot had me worried. I thought they didn't show you how to get in correctly. Looks like you had a great flight and your Mum looks like a nice lady. Thanks for the flight.
allardjd 1,853
He couldn't have been shaking with fear for too much of the flight - pretty good shots. Way to go. John

remingtonbox 18
Congrats! Sometime when you have some time, I would love to compare notes about differences in flight training between there and here in the US.

mutley 4,498
Superb selection Jack, thanks for sharing. I think the shot with your mum waving is fantastic, does she wave to all the aircraft?!
ddavid 149
Thanks for sharing your flight with Martin as paasenger and some nice shots, too! @ Brett - Got to be good-lookin' 'cause she's so hard to see... Cheers - Dai.
Aircraft Aviation 2
Thank you very much for the kind comments everyone! It is a real pleasure to fly as a PPL pilot but I am already looking to start the IMC training due to the idiots at EASA discontinuing the IMC after April 2014! We were in a bit of a rush pre-flight because of an approaching warm front which would bring lots of rain and low Nimbo-Stratus cloud, clearly visible on the opposite side of Carsington water in shots #19 and #20. The heavy rain poured down no more than 5 minutes after we touched down! @Joe - Funny you say that, according to herself she actually originally waved at the wrong aircraft which was about 15 minutes ahead of us. @Brian - How is the NPPL coming along?
