remingtonbox 18
Just got word that I have been named the new airport manager effective August 1. I am super excited and I figured I would share the good news with my e-friends!

remingtonbox 18
Yessir and thank you... come visit if you are ever in the area. I know there are limited reasons one's travel would bring them anywhere near Iowa, but the offer is open
brett 2,316
Congrats Remington, I hope all goes well for you on your next job adventure.
allardjd 1,853
Here's your airport in FSX, Remington... http://forum.mutleyshangar.com/index.php/files/file/2286-kiib/
brett 2,316
Not perfect with the satellite image but pretty close considering the amount of airports depicted in FSX.
Quickmarch 488
Congratulations on your new position. Glad to hear the RW is still connected with ours.
remingtonbox 18
Its now 18/36 and 5,500 ft. with GPS approaches at both ends
allardjd 1,853
It's commendable that the RW has improved since 2006. My airport diagrams document what's in FSX, however, for use by simulator pilots. The difference between the RW KIIB and the FSX KIIB is a perfect illustration of why using RW charts can be problematic for FS pilots. Can you imagine the cost to the FAA (taxpayers) and the airports when runway numbers change because of a minor shift in magnetic variation? NOTAMS get issued; AF/D gets revised; every approach plate for the airport gets revised; airport diagram gets changed; DPs get updated; physical runway numbers have to be repainted; taxiway signs get changed. It must be a very costly thing all around. Didn't mean to hijack your thread. Congrats again on the new job. John
remingtonbox 18
PLUS it was extended nearly 1000 ft, two new T-hangers were built, a fully parallel taxiway was installed... on and on... to the tune of $15 million fed money FOR THIS AIRPORT ALONE!
remingtonbox 18
Hey John could I talk you into creating a diagram for the airport as it is in real life? I would like to have something that shows the parallel taxiway for pilots/students to have in hand...
allardjd 1,853
Can do as long as you don't mind waiting a week or so - am going to be out of town for a few days and will not have access to the necessary software tools. Is the Google Earth view current? Any changes to the radio frequencies and navaids data listed in the FSX version? What is the current magnetic variation? John
brett 2,316
Just flew out of there and west along highway 22 and then north up 27. Nice place you have there.

brett 2,316
round these parts... hwy 22 is known as the ol' 20 ha, no idea where 27 is The roads are kind of interchangeable there. Ol 20 west to Interstate 380 North toward Warterloo, up 218 to Cedar Falls and Black Hawk Park and then up 27/218 north to land at Charles City Muni. That's how PlanG showed my path. brett 2,316
IFR (I Follow Roads) all the way, eh, Brett? John Ha, yes I do that a lot. I wish the roads were more accurately represented in FSX though. I like to look at a map and try to get somewhere by following the roads or rivers and mountain ridges when available without using the GPS. I do get lost sometimes(a lot) and do have to fall back on an NDB or VOR to find my way back. I'm glad it's a sim and am impressed with those that take on the real world responsibility of flying. Again, congratulations on your new job Remington, enjoy. Hey, whose in charge here? He is...........
