ddavid 149
Here's an interesting development from Agusta-Westland - Half Plane/Half Helicopter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22965734 Leans towards an Osprey, perhaps, but quite novel, eh? CHeers - Dai.

ddavid 149
I don't trust genetic modification either! Nice concept, mind. Wonder who will be able to afford the non-mil version... Cheers - Dai.
britfrog 180
looks like a cross of something from the past (horton) and something from Avatar I still think the avatar helicopters will be manufactured in full scale

allardjd 1,853
Innovative, though not much different from the Osprey in general concept - a pair of large diameter props/rotors that can tilt from a vertical to a horizontal axis, so VTOL without most of the inherent aerodynamic limitations of helicopters in cruise. Since it's electric driven, I suspect payload and range are somewhere south of abysmal. It's good that companies do this kind of thing. That's what advances our collective knowledge of how to best do things, of what works and what doesn't. John

stu7708 244
While the design does have a rather futuristic look to it, and the fact that it's powered by electrical engines, it's basically a Tilt Rotor design isn't it??? Looks very nice though, and I do wonder how long the battery charge last...
