dodgy-alan 1,587
Unashamedly using the companies details to highlight these aircraft; Air Tractor produces the world’s most extensive and popular line of agricultural spray aircraft, with eight type-certified Air Tractor models in current production from which to choose. Whether the job is spraying, seeding, fertilizing, or firefighting, more operators choose Air Tractor because they get the most productive, highest quality and cost-effective purpose-built aircraft available anywhere, at any price. And wherever Air Tractor operators are working, they know they can rely upon Air Tractor’s worldwide dealer network for service, parts and support. A couple have been made available as fs models. First up the 401B The AT-401B is a 400-gallon workhorse powered by the Pratt & Whitney R-1340 radial engine. It has all the rugged durability, safety features, clean aerodynamics and flying ease for which Air Tractor aircraft are famous – with the economical price of a piston engine plane. Plenty of power means you can do this! Next one up is the Turbine powered 502 and 602 models but the big daddy is the AT-802/802A, currently the world's largest single engine aircraft, and its popularity reflects the industry's trend to larger, high-production turbine equipment. With a payload of 9,249 lbs, the AT-802A provides more working capacity than any other single-engine ag plane. Cleaning up the wheels, No danger of Foot and mouth disease here! Another version of this aircraft, the 802U, is designed as a COIN aircraft and is heavily armed! brett 2,316
Love the shots Alan. I have been flying the turbo prop one in a new fire fighting mission and one thing I have not yet learned is 'think ahead type' proper throttle control. Let's just say it has not been pretty. LOL, yes they do take some getting used to, but the results when it goes right are well worth it. This class of aircraft is seldom in the news or even recognized, yet they work harder than most tubeliners!
