Hero540 0
The Captain Sim 737-200? I am not a jet flier. I love my little prop bush planes, as slow and low is very easily manageable for my tiny brain. However, when it comes to flying the big iron, I have always been a fan of the 737. Sadly this includes the default 737-800 that FSX comes with. I don't know if it's considered a big jet anymore...in fact, I know it's not in comparison to what most of you may fly, And I know for a fact that my experience while flying them is extremely limited. But then on a whim I came across the Captain Sim 737-200 the next to original '37 and I had to pick it up. I even bought the convertible and freighter expansions, and every since when I do feel like flying in the way ups, I'll take it out for a spin. Most of the time, however, I stick to my Cessnas. However, recently I have been on a kick just flying the 200 around using FsPassengers and it's been a great experience. My favorite part is using the thrust reversers on landing. That unique clamshell door design to redirect the engine exhaust is just too much fun to watch for me. I was even considering starting a virtual airline. I have had a few VA's in the past that died due to inactivity, but the options with FsPassengers is very unique and amazing, especially since the pilots of the VA would have to make fictional captains, since there is a risk of death due to accidents using the add-on. Because I have the expansions to the 737-200, I would also have a freighter division. Of course, the airline would be fictional, and I have repaints of both. Admittedly, this repaint is just a modification of a NAP livery, but I retooled it and put my fictional name on it. I just doubt a lot of people would join a virtual airline that would not have more than a proboards website (albeit, I have set up very professional VA's with proboards in the past) and would require some very expensive software add-ons (IE, Fspassengers 50 USD, and the Captain Sim 737-200 and 200F [if interested in freight ops] which is around another 50 USD) What do you guys think? Dunno. Anyways, back on topic...I've been flying passengers flights on an ever expanding schedule based out of KHIO (Portland Hillsboro Airport) up into Alaska, down to California, Nevada, and some other spots in the Midwest. How about you guys? Anyone else flying or has flown the CS737-200? I'd love to hear about it! brett 2,316
I enjoy the freedom of low and slow but there is a certain thrill of taking up the big tin once in awhile. It's a cool feeling having all that plane behind you. I remember using a demo quite a few years ago of FSPassengers and it was fun having the job of a pilot and hearing the pax talking as they boarded, sort of added to the responsibility of them on your hands during flight. They also get cranky when you don't feed them or beat'em up during landing. I really liked the way it rated your landings too. Not sure why I didn't by it, probably felt like to much of a job, not to mention the time constraints. To much pressure compared to flying into remote mountain strips dropping of supplies. The customers are usually happy that you even showed up .
mutley 4,498
Very colourful shots! I am mostly a bush flyer too because of lack of time to all the prep for the big birds but I agree the RT on landing is one of me favourite events too.

I was pretty nervous. I started a new airline in economic mode on FsPassengers and it really puts the pressure on you to make a good flight for your passengers. It's also unnerving when you're not very experienced with the bigger iron and you hear the little ones crying as their board with their mothers. THAT makes you want to fly super smooth, lol. Very colourful shots! I am mostly a bush flyer too because of lack of time to all the prep for the big birds but I agree the RT on landing is one of me favourite events too. I really do love VFR, weather permitting, and I used to fly all the time on VATSIM using VFR. I did fly some big iron on there, but it was pretty well rare for me to, as most of the controllers, despite most people's experience with VATSIM were kind of rude and off-putting, especially if you weren't familiar with a specific procedure, even on non-busy days. I to this day do not know how to fly STARs and SIDs, and I think they really didn't like that. So big iron flying kind of took a back seat when I flew on VATSIM because I knew VFR procedures and can fly the pants off the smaller planes, but if you've ever been on VATSIM in a Cessna flying a quick VFR trip you'll know that you're pretty much just ignored. So I gave up on VATSIM with a few hundred hours under my belt and have been doing single player flights ever since. As for those reversers, I've got a video I'll post here (if it's okay instead of starting a new thread) that has them in action on my latest flight into CYVR. EDIT: Here's the video! I absolutely love the stewardess' announcements at the beginning of the flight. This particular one is hilarious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LhpD4X8Pqk&feature=youtu.be
brett 2,316
Nice piloting there flyboy. That plane has some great sound and a great video. You looked like the followme truck was towing you at about 30mph. I just looked up FXPassengers, I must have used a different program, the one I used had a black pop gauge type gauge installed in the aircraft that you had to report everything from. You reported takeoff, used it to feed passengers, tell the stews what to do, report in during flight every half hour and so on.

Vancouver was a treat when I got there, spent a lot of my descent blind in some thick cloud cover. I have never been so happy to see PAPI lights before. As for your PAX program, it sounds like you were using FsCaptain. I own and use FsCaptain as well, mainly for cargo flying. It's also a great program, but a lot more complicated to set up and use. It's a stickler about proper load mapping and basically wants you to map your own plane by hand, whereas FsPassengers just seems to know. You can check out FsCaptain here: www.fscaptain.net And see if maybe that's what you were thinking of. If you're interested in buying FsPassengers BE WARNED. The original creator of the program is no longer active on his site, and does not offer customer support anymore. Funny, because the payments still go through just fine for him. His site offers two purchase options. One is a discounted purchase using a coupon or something like that, and I have read from multiple customers there that it does not work. Also if you purchase the program you may not receive the activation code right away...or at all. I don't know if that's for the discounted option or not...but I digress. It takes a lot of work to get into contact with the creator now to get the product you rightfully paid for, so I would recommend joining the Fspax forums and asking some questions to the moderators who are still active there. This is of course, if you really want the program.
