dgor 0
Hi, Ever since the last Windows Update installed on my computer, I cannot get any sound from the PC. The program which controls my PC's sound, RTHDCPL.EXE, will not start up. When I boot Windows I get this error message: RTHDCPL.EXE - Illegal System DLL Relocation The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occured because the DLL C:WINDOWSsystem32HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL. This is really annoying me - without sound I can't play games, watch DVDs or listen to music. I have tried starting RTHDCPL.EXE manually but that does not work either. I have also tried reinstalling the drivers. I really, really need help with this - is anyone else experiencing similar problems? Help much appreciated. Thanks Dave
mutley 4,498
Hi Dave, I don't have this problem, that looks like a Control Panel dll to me but as the system is hinting perhaps you should go to the audio card or chip manufacturer to get an updated dll once they've developed it. Other than that, a system restore which was made before the update and wait for a fix :shrug_no: Chees
JoeEllwood 0
You can always try putting that into the Microsoft site and searching for an answer, or Google of course. If that fails, just system restore - as Mut said.
dgor 0
Thanks both. I had been using System Restore as a temporary solution but now Simon over at JF has linked me to a hotfix for this - just have to wait for the update to install again and all will be well :shrug_no:
