Corsaire31 419
Finally decided that due to my original culture, Brittany Airfreight would become an Interceltic company. Plans are now to open a base in Wales (probably Cardiff) and from there will try to extend to Ireland and Scotland. On the Southern front will try to take a foot in celtic Spain by opening a base in Galicia.
brett 2,314
Great shot, good luck with the expansion.
britfrog 180
You will get plenty of instrument landings if you fly into any airport in Galicia like the shot though
Corsaire31 419
Base opened in Wales. As I prefer smaller and cheaper places, the base has been opened in Swansea, although it has no ILS. Leased also a BN2 Islander there for flights to Isle of Man, Scilly Islands, Ouessant and the Channel Islands ( just had a flight to Guernsey, memories of my younger years ! ). brett 2,314
Beautiful area, good luck with the new base Loic. At least the yoke grabbers we hire aren't bothered by night flights with no ILS.
Corsaire31 419
That's a good thing, but I am concerned when I'm holding the yoke ! Think I will stick to daylight flights around there and leave the dirty jobs to the employees... Will see tomorrow how it goes when I bring back the Islander from Guernsey. DublinPilatus 5
Casement Airbase is a great little base to open up in Ireland. On the south side of County Dublin with 2 decent sized runways. And it gets better, the opening cost is around €15k (has lights and ATC)
Corsaire31 419
Thks for the tip, will soon be over there, business from Swansea is bringing money on the company's account ! Since I do often night flying in this part of the world, I also like to have an ILS for bad conditions, but not absolutely a must.
Corsaire31 419
I like the west coast of Ireland, so my first irish base is in Shannon (EINN) - long runway if necessary in the future, lights and ILS. Leased a second BN2A Islander in Swansea and transferred one of the C208b Caravans in Shannon. Hired Lily Patterson as fourth pilot for the new Islander. Next step will be Scotland. DublinPilatus 5
Shannon is a great airport. The location just didn't appeal to me at all. Baldonnel is less than 10 minutes drive from me and I actually fly over my house when doing the approach from the east anyways great to hear about the expansion. Keep me posted on you're company Happy Hauling Matt
Corsaire31 419
Opened my scottish base in Inverness (EGPE) Good runway 6045 ft - Lights - ILS. (On my irl tour of Scotland I loved the landscape around, and specially the Loch Ness) Transfered one of the BN2A Islanders there with its pilot for the moment.
