dodgy-alan 1,587
A museum full of rare and unique aircraft, but the state of some of them is criminal. The photos though are just superb! enjoy! http://ru-aviation.livejournal.com/2988336.html

brett 2,315
Good amount of aircraft, thanks for the look. I also learned that the DC3 was actually Russian built (Li-2) by license from Douglas, cool.
J G 927
Good amount of aircraft, thanks for the look. I also learned that the DC3 was actually Russian built (Li-2) by license from Douglas, cool. You can tell the licence built aircraft as they have an extra window in the cockpit The Japanese also made them under licence with a couple of extra windows in the cockpit either side (they moved the forward bulkhead back) They started building them in 1938, and continued to build them throughout the second world war.
hifly 925
The Russian also built copies of the B29 after WW2. Got to say the Ruskies made some interesting and handsome ac, IL62, Tu154. Not as sophisticated as western counterparts but rugged for their working environments.

hurricanemk1c 195
A stunning collection - shame some are in such a state! I'm sure a few Guess the Aircraft will come out of here in the future
brett 2,315
@Geoff- Didn't know which post# to delete as they are both grammatically different. John said- "You can tell the licence built aircraft as they have an extra window in the cockpit" That is what put me on the scent in the first place, I thought they stole the plans and made them for themselves.

That movie also had plenty a B-52, too.
hifly 925
Dr Strangelove, one of my favourite films.

adrians69 159
Great pics, shame about the state of some of those aircraft though. I wonder if there's some restoration project going on there with the new looking building in one of the shots?
hurricanemk1c 195
Apparently they are building a new hangar to get a few more under cover

hurricanemk1c 195
But with consequences. Many British and American aircrew were accused of being spies as 'only the Red Air Force bombed Germany'. Many were not released until 8-9 weeks after the end of the war

Many were not released until 8-9 weeks after the end of the war Crazy politics. Just like North Korea winning the last world cup. I dread to think what happened to the only North Korean witnesses to that lie, the team itself. Perhaps that is why the are not entering it in Brazil. No footballers left.
brett 2,315
I think about all the hard world questions that need to be asked and why the people in charge shouldn't be in charge, and I say to myself, hmm...my coffee is cold, think I'll go heat it up and cuddle with my honey.
