I think Einstein's theory of relativity comes into play at high altitudes? That, and the fact that the ground is so far away, it doesn't look like you're moving. Try the Top Down View (F12) for rapid Slewing, maybe that'll do the trick?

Hi Andy,

Altitude shouldn't make any difference to the actual speed, it's probably because the relative velocity appears slower the higher you get. I think it's called kinematics?

Joe's right - top down view should give you a good indication of how fast you are actually moving. Also, turn on the Shft-Z information on the top-left of the screen and the IAS will show the rate of slew movement.
