Twin Ventures - BAL Hauling

Recommended Posts

Bay Area Local Hauling Inc. is my new start company.

I can't seem to get away from my local patch, and want to cover ground quickly around the bay area, haul decent loads, have ability to get above weather to keep operations going all winter...assuming we get any weather this year around here :( .

I decided to concentrate on twin engine light to mid range haulers...but got carried away a bit further than intended thanks to a couple nice freewares I found, probably thanks to either a Dodgy Allen or Corsair link from the screenshot section no doubt.

The first is a Beech  C99 by Premier Aircraft Design: http://www.premaircraft.com/beech_C99/

It has passenger and freight models (2 ea...doesn't bloat your aircraft list :)  )...i only use the freight ofc. It has a fairly basic looking VC, but it is VERY functional with a terrific Autopilot, and blessed with very sweet flight characteristics.

Senior Corsair...I highly recommend this one for you, it is rugged, hauls over 5,000 lbs at over 210kts, and can operate over 25,000 feet for good fuel economy and to get above the weather.

I also use a Beech D18 freeware...I believe this one has been discussed before...a terrific freeware by Milton Shupe I believe?

Flysimware's Cessna 402c...love this plane.

3000ish lbs at 210kts, great handling, easy Autopilot, and looks good inside and out.

To generate income for this fleet I wanted something just a bit bigger for a AI to fly...around 10000lb cargo and fast, just to pay the bills since I plan to just plunk around casually in this fleet on scenic jobs...for my own flying.

I found this freeware Citation X...kind of clunky looking, but man it flew great, fast, and hauled a lot.

And I became enamored of it and wanted to fly it more often..but the VC looked ugly, the exterior model was very clunky looking...so I found Eaglesoft's Citation X...OMG.

Compare with the shot above:

Such a gorgeous model...a bit expensive but the art is worth it...lookieeeeee:

Such a graceful looking and flying aircraft. Like the Majestic Dash-8...this model doesn't lend itself to Ctrl-E startups...So I had to hunt and peck my way to startup...or load an easier plane to start then switch back to the CitationX after the Loader Plane is started up...at least until I get it figured out. This thing flies over 50,000 feet, at 495 kts...such a money maker in Air Hauler. I loaded the AI up with 10 hours of jobs and she nearly paid for the lease in that first 10 hours.

Lastly...again from the Premier AC designs page...a "better" Shorts C360...at least it looks a bit more refined than the old version I had used before. There are also lots of repaints for PAD's models in the repainter's shed.

I found an Ameriflight livery for the Beech c99 that I plan to use in the Bay area, as they have a Hayward operation that flies the c99s...I believe I may have delivered stuff to them actually in my courier job a while back :)

The new Shorts:

Look for Matthew Forthright flying around the Bay Area on the AH radar...I'll be in one of the above :)

Cheers and thanks for looking.

Very nice Matt, I like the Citation X. :thum:

How about a name change for the company? Something like Bay Area Local Logistic Solutions and in partnership with UPS your corporate ID would read... oh work it out for yourself.

Nice start...

I already have the Beech C99 in my hangar, ready to be used when necessary.  Also have the Short 360, ready to get working with Aurigny Air Xpress...

It is next step after the Trislanders and before the ATR.

Hifly: Hahahaha....i just might do that. :P

And...ahaha..it was a Corsair link that led me to that fine C99...thanks man! :)

erm...i forgot to mention, cuz I in passing mentioned "a couple" freewares that I went overboard on, and then only mentioned the freebee Citationx > Eaglesoft CitationX...well...the C99 also pushed me over the edge to get Carenado's Beech B1900D (Beech discontinued the C99 series when the B1900D came out...so it is a logical step up from the C99), I had been waiting on a deep sale on that bird, but it never happened so I bit the bullet on the Columbus Day 10% off sale at PC Aviator...Lovely plane and a great addition I have been looking forward to for a long time...but it was an expensive post payday hangar expansion weekend...doh.
