britfrog 180
as a certain person guessed far too quickly my last question here is another to ponder: what american aircraft was built and acclaimed as it had no rudder pedals ? they built thousands of them at a rate of 30 odd aircraft a day !!!! and for the real smartypants what was the UK a/c with no rudder pedals? Captain Coffee 2,030
ERCO Ercoupe? I noted that many are offered for sale with "rudder pedal" kits when i was perusing used aircraft sales.
Quickmarch 488
Far as I know, Capt Coffee (Matt) is right on the money. I remember the little rascals - none of us "real" pilots would have anything to do with them. Strange little beasts, they were. Screwball gadgets with twin rudders that didn't have rudder pedals??? Captain Coffee 2,030
The Ercoupe was the very first airplane I ever flew in around age 12 or so. My neighbor had a share in one at our local Novato Gnoss field. He let me take the controls and I recall doing OK at it. I do not recall whether or not it had rudder pedals though...i certainly don't recall touching them, so probably not. The Flysimware Ercoupe addon is a sweet little bird and def worth picking up if anyone is in market for a very light plane easier to fly than a cub, and a bit faster too. The addon comes with the pedal kit...so no worries purist pilots...its a real plane
Andrew Godden 944
How strange!!! Actually, not really, when you know what you are dealing with.
allardjd 1,853
Difficult for cross-wind landings - crab and kick is the only option. I expect the maximum cross-wind component that can be safely handled is fairly low. John
Andrew Godden 944
We never did get confirmation on the answer to the second part of this question, i.e. what the UK aircraft was that had no rudder pedals!!!
