filthy weather 2

Recommended Posts

well so far we have had 200mm (8 inches) of rain overnight added to 10 inches the previous 48 hours and things are getting interesting here, many of the local villages are flooded or being evacuated our local river here is 6 meters!! above normal level and it is still rising the record was 6.7 meters but it is clear this is going to set a new record.

apparently the rain should die off later on tonight and they anticipate the rain will slow down so that they estimate we will only get another 10cms over the next 12 hours.

well thats alright then , i have rescued my snorkel and swim fins from the pool house , just in case :)

still as long as the electricity holds out i shall get plenty of sim time

Sorry I spoke too soon yesterday about the weather calming down down there. Looks like the Balearics are being hit right now. Seems like the north Med has been having a lot of these storms in the last couple of weeks.

Fingers crossed your power doesn't go.

Hi Chris, electricity still good, but we did have quite a lot of cuts last night but swmbo was lucky enough to watch her dancing prog.

they have evacuated over 1000 from a village downhill and many hundreds from other villages , it should be interesting to see the results of all this tomorrow

river now over 7 meters  and still climbing according to their website

as my garden is about 10 inches deep in water i thought i would remove the cover to our drains, geez the whirlpool  was like something out of sinbad or pirates of the carib, so tried to put the cover back on before my garden disappeared down the plughole, and nearly lost my fingers the vacuum was enormous, still the few minutes that the water went down would have cleared any baby pampers pants that regularly block it.

well off to dinner at a neighbours house, he lives on the first floor so we should be safe there :))

5 days ago it was 24 dgrees and sunny

right now it is 5 dgrees and kin snowing!! and blowing a hooley as well  so +5 feels like -5

any opinions on what comes next???     :anyone::stars:

I am starting to think Bretts previous posting may be prophetic

Glad you made it through Nigel, at least you haven't had tornados, tsunamis or a plague of locusts... yet.

But please, let us not get back onto the subject of climate change, the heated discussions here must surely contribute to global warming.

Famine and pestilence, according to classical sources, but probably not.  Government assistance?  Frankly, I'd go for the famine and pestilence first, given a choice.

Joe to be honest if I could buy them from amazon and guarantee to receive them I would also build up a proper collection bit by bit, however here in France there are so many theiving b--tards that work in the post office that one only receives a percentage of what is sent, and the french retailers despite having over 5 million uk residents still live as if french is a major language on the world stage, and ignore potential business from the english speakers. you cant even buy a qwerty keyboard here!

So one has to resort to plan B
