JPS 0
Hello everyone, the Track IR has been something that has caught my attention recently. In flight simulator I am getting kind of bored using the hat swicth all the time and its not very realistic when looking around the VC so the Track IR seems a very good addition to make to my FS. I have noticed the superb offer that Mutley has with Justflight offering Track IR for
mutley 4,498
Hi, I have one of these marvels. It's one of those items that radically enhances your VC and especially your VFR experience. There is a review here http://www.mutleyshangar.com/features/ncm/trackir.htm Having a single monitor is no problem, that's how I run it, the way the thing is calibrated means if you want to look out the side window or over your shoulder you can! I have experienced no hit in performance for GS2004 or FSX so it's worth considering. Hope this helps.
channingchan 0
Hi. I recently purchased and installed TrackIR. It is a great piece of hardware. The software works very well. I'm using the reflectors that attach to the visor of a hat. You can't have a bright light behind you such as a window with sun light coming in or a fairly bright light in the room. The problem being that the TrackIR device can't see you. This can be checked by using the tracking window in the edit mode. This will show the reflectors on your head as green and extranous background light as red. There are many adjustments and game profiles that are part of the software. Using this device in the VC adds so much realism that I have started a barf bag collection. I'm am using a 22" HD LCD display and am very pleased with this device. I would rate it 5 stars out of 5. No apparent frame rate hits. It does take some getting used to since it's hard to break the hat switch habit. If I can answer any specific questions let me know. Slopey 4
TrackIR is imho essential for Flight Sim - you need it - simple as that. There is only one gotcha, and that is that on FSX you can't adjust the view/eye point (shift-Return/shift-Backspace)while using the TrackIR as the motion tracking will continually reset it to the default for your aircraft. There are 2 work arounds - first, edit the eyepoint in the aircraft.cfg, or more easily, adjust the trackIR once you're in the cockpit so you're "sitting" higher - the latter is the easiest solution. If you use the vector hat clip (as opposed to the headset clip), you can do this easily by tilting your cap up a little This isn't an issue on FS9 - you can continue to adjust the eyepoint which FS then uses as the point of reference for the TrackIR, with FSX it always uses the default. But that's a minor complaint and easily overcome if you have the 6DOF/vector expansion (which the Ultra comes with). Go buy one!!! Now!!!! :dance2:
