UKJim 502
So I had Ground, ATIS and Tower - this got me to the active and departure instructions - once I was on my way I got passed to unicom and no controls at Islay so landed just fine Sorry for lack of screens - it was hard work lolol. Captain Coffee 2,030
Grats. Curious about your track. Did you have crosswords blowing you off course, or were you sightseeing within some tolerance allowed to the course? Ie...How strictly do/can VATSIM ATC folks monitor your actual position? And how far off before they get concerned/comment on it if you are off course a bit? Nice shots BTW of that Cherokee. Cheers.
UKJim 502
Well with VFR in uncontrolled airspace you can pretty much get away with anything. But the reason it it different was I didn't actually use that way point at the top of the river - so I was instructed to depart west staying north of the airport apart from that I could go anywhere under 2000 feet. I used my gps unit to keep track and was not that strict - another reason for the offset. If I was flying IFR then it would have been more important to meet the way points defined in the flight plan. Not sure if all of the above is valid in vfr and in real life flying but it worked out fine last night hehe. Have you not tried vatsim mate? Cheers Jim
wain 879
Well done Jim. I have never tried Vatsim. Alqays worried they would be too serious if I made a mistake. Nice shots to... wayne

Nice shots to... wayne I was exactly the same but now I know the basics I did another flight today just fine. Don't want to fly without it now - although I have not actually performed an approach using ATC yet. Requires bit more planning than usual like vfr charts for entry points and airspace but not too difficult. Also using aerodrome charts for taxiing is essential as they clear your taxi route too. I would recommend it it's just a shame that there is not 100% coverage like the real world
brett 2,316
The toughest part is understanding some of the controllers. Well done Jim. I have also been looking at that PilotEdge ATC in videos, it only covers California but does include the whole state. It costs money but looks pretty professional.
