New Zealand Air Rally September 2015

Recommended Posts

Hi to all,

Some pilots here will be familiar with a air rally called the GAAR which for those not familiar GAAR stands for " Great Australian Air Rally", this is held in February each year and hosted by VA Bluegrass Airlines.

The idea behind the GAAR is you choose your selected aircraft, fly a short test flight and time yourself between two nominated points then submit your registration and flight time for the event.

The GAAR itself is a downloadable flight plan of around seventeen legs flying to various townships within Australia and submitting your time for each leg.

It is a fun event, no prizes, firsts, seconds or thirds, just having fun flying your chosen sim.

Late this September 2015, Bluegrass Airlines is presenting the NZAR15, a similar shortened event of the above of ten legs and flown in New Zealand. Your choice of aircraft is any piston or turboprop aircraft manufactured between 1903 to 1975.

Anyone that may be interest in flying this event can check it out at www.bluegrassairlines.com.

Come and join us and have fun in New Zealand.

Cheers

Rob

Thanks Rob, I have flown in a few GAAR's and always enjoyed them. I will try to make the NZAR time permitting, nice to see you have extended the manufacturer dates for the aircraft beyond 1950 like the GAAR.

Thanks guys, I did not know about the UK version, will definitely check it out.

I did the flight plans for the NZAR and finally talked the Bluegrass CEO into updating the aircraft types available.

You can still fly the Wright Flyer if you wish or something a little more modern.
