hlminx 301
OK.. this might sound totally out of left field, but am I the only person that thinks Microsoft got Tom (Top Gun) Cruise to supply the FSX voice for "don't sink" ?? Every time I hear it, I'm convinced that Tom is sitting there wagging his finger at me! Do I need to get my hearing checked (again) ?

SEATAC 400
Doesn't sound the least bit like him.
hifly 925
Not sure about TC but the voice of the FO callouts in the Flight1 DC9 sounds like Barak Obama.
UKJim 502
Omg for the years I've been flying the sim I have never thought about what the voices sound like hehe. This has now opened a new door in my simming experience I will definitely be listening in on the sound-a-likes! Barak lmao
dodgy-alan 1,587
I don't know about Tom Cruise but I call my Sat Nav "Bitching Betty!" and my little icon is a big black hearse!
brett 2,314
Maybe you want it to sound like TC.
allardjd 1,853
I don't know about Tom Cruise but I call my Sat Nav "Bitching Betty!" and my little icon is a big black hearse! We also call our automobile GPS "Bitchin' Betty", or just "Betty" when we're in polite company. John
allardjd 1,853
Not so bad to have a Maverick sound bite. I had one recorded from the Top Gun soundtrack years ago but have lost it. It was as he pulls up alongside Cougar when Cougar has lost the bubble, and he says, "Any of you boys seen an aircraft carrier around here?" I used it for some kind of system sound. One of these days I need to play the movie and capture that bite again. There are several good ones in there - "I feel the need - the need for speed" - "I'm going to hit the brakes and he'll fly right by." - "Goose, it's time to buzz the tower." - "Switching to guns" - "Yes, Ice, I AM dangerous" - "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you" - "No, you can be MY wingman" - "This is what I call a target-rich environment" - "Son, your ego is writing checks your body can't cash" - "And if you screw up just this much, you'll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong!: - and probably a couple dozen more, including one of the best lines ever by Meg Ryan before she was writing her own press releases. I really need to watch that flick again. John
Andrew Godden 943
I hear voices all the time, and I can't recognise any of them! Then there is this constant and laboured heavy breathing in my ear.
Jess-b 420
Sorry Andrew, did I forget to mute my mic?
hlminx 301
Have you been on the sauce again Steph? Which aircraft were you flying? Oddly enough i was totally sober at the time, lol. Seems to be on most of the default stuff (of course its Lance 'sinking' and not me, cough).. It really does sound like him IMHO but then again I am partially deaf in one ear Did it say "Don't Sink, Join Scientology Now"? ... I guess everyone has to have at least one vice.. its definitely tarnished his shiny armour..
allardjd 1,853
I hear voices all the time, and I can't recognise any of them! A guy I used to work with (with a PHD in Nuclear Engineering) used to occasionally post a note on his door that said, "I won't be in today. The voices told me to stay home and clean the guns."
