Latest Trip to Gatwick

Recommended Posts

Hi all;

I've been taimed across by young gaza to this forum now. Hoping that I will be more than welcome to post screenshots and real photos with a feel for a belonging.

26th September I went down to London Gatwick for a day of spotting. Here are a few shots. Some comments, but I'm not sure on my aircraft as its been a while

27 Pictures (resized & slightly lower quality)!

5 videos (including ATC broadcasts) also available at the bottom of this post  Videos require Apples Quick time Player to be viewed.

Here we are:

BA777 (was told off by airport security for standing in front of ditch so close to fence. Was asked to back away on road side of ditch. Rest of shots were spoilt due to this). Personally I thought this was unfair. :sadblinky:

Hey Pete, :mrhappy:

We love RW shots as you will see

Interesting shots-

B767 Zoom Landing 26L
That's not something you will see again

Shame about the fence but John Allard will like them (In joke) I agree with you feeling hard done by for not being able to poke the lens through the mesh.

The videos are taking a while to load. So whilst they are, one tip is you can embed YouTube and SimTube videos in the forum using the tags whilst posting.

Got the 747 now, great quality, wow that must have been loud!!

Thanks for posting.

Cheers

mut you should have been at gatwick when the travel city direct 747-200 was landing :rofl

some bloke on his mobile lost his signal and was wondering why his phone wasnt workin so well. the russians normally arrive loudly, as do there planes. the tupolev normally sends your ear drums rattling and the cubana illyshin makes a racket as well.

Hi thanks for the comments. Would love to put them on youtube but some files are over 100mb which i think is the max. Also they are in .mov format ... not sure if this is surpported? Videos will be slow loading at the moment as I'm still uploading them to my server so its bandwidth is being taken up by me :mrhappy:

You'll find me on here now rather than JF. Hope you are well good friend.

Welcome to MH. As indicated, I have a little experience with airport fences. At my local airport the only good viewing area is fronted by a fence much like the one you show, though with not so much concertina wire on the top. Shooting through the fence from up close is not much better than standing back, as you were forced to do, and having photos of fences with airplanes in the background.

The best technique I've come up with yet is to stand on the trunk lid of the car and shoot over the fence. If the car is new enough that you're worried about the paint, stocking feet or a beach towel (don't trip) would serve. Inconvenient, I know, but just one more thing to thank the middle-eastern loonies for.

John
