SEATAC 400
and for the "Titanic" the pictures should be black and white... Why B&W? The world has always been in color. Hey, black and white are colors... and all colors matter. John Yes, in theory, however in reality, only Greenbacks ever get any respect. Technically, white is all colors while black is lack of any color.

Technically, white is all colors while black is lack of any color. Pedantically, that is true in Light theory, but in Pigment Theory, it is exactly the opposite...black (very dark gray) is what you get when you mix all the left over Colored (not white or black) paint on the pallet together. allardjd 1,853
He did a fine job modeling those ships - very detailed and the ones I've looked up are pretty true to their real-world alter-egos. John

allardjd 1,853
I have seen Ohio class boats, and others, in that harbor. There's a facility there for loading/unloading missiles and subs come and go relatively frequently, though none is home-ported there. John
hifly 925
Is this turning into a shipping sim forum? Well, whatever floats your boat. Must admit they do look good, another thing to add to the burgeoning wish list. Coming from the Isle of Wight which is situated off both Southampton and Portsmouth there was always plenty marine activity, Navy and merchant. The Old Queens Mary and Elizabeth plying the Trans Atlantic route along with the United States amongst others, beautiful things. Even down to the lowliest collier, they all have character. Anchors Away shipmates.

I think that's about all its worth. I have it but since uninstalled. the physics of the sim are so bad. I'm a lifelong boater /sailor and clearly whoever designed and coded that sim never spent much time on ships. Too arcade like for me.
dodgy-alan 1,587
SS Xtremes is far better than the earlier versions, still has a few bits that are somewhat awkward to use, but for the most part it's pretty good. The only downside for me is that the operating environments in all the ship sims are somewhat contained and you cannot go into other ports etc unless they are on the list of named destinations. This means that you cannot go free roaming in it's truest sense inasmuch that the environment area has an edge that your vessel will not cross. Obviously if the developers were to load every port known to us shellbacks, then the sim would require a mega-computer to run it, but even so I would like to be able to set my own voyages rather than be confined to the pre programmed ones. There is a free roaming option but you are restricted as to how far you can go. Another problem is that in free roaming you cannot tie your ship up in any port, you can drop anchors but the mooring option doesn't work. (that only works in the pre programmed missions,) So yes it has it's flaws but it's still fun to mess about with. That aside the Ships themselves do handle just like their full sized counterparts and although it may appear slow, trying to keep a VLCC within the dredged channel of the Solent whilst coping with poor weather, high winds etc, can be a real challenge. Captain Coffee 2,030
Yeah Dolf...they are a very nice addition to watery areas...since I fly mostly around the SF bay area, it's been very...distracting, pulling me off of routes to go "check out that one way over there". haha. Sadly, I haven't seen any poking further up the Sacramento Delta/channels than Antioch...ie...they don't go into the Delta channels at all from what I have seen so far...despite Sac having facilities for container ships. Main Bay has been full of surprises
