A320cap 0
Hi! Who do you prefer? I like Obama more 'cos he is democratic. I don't mind that he is black. Also, I've heard that he likes Greece so he'll support us against the Turks
dgor 0
I've heard that she likes Greece Is there something he isn't telling us? I'd rather see Obama get it, don't particularly like Bush and wouldn't want to see another Republican in power.
allardjd 1,853
Panos, Don't make the error of assuming that the name of Obama's party, the Democratic Party, means that they and only they are "democrats". It's just a name and the Democrats are no more "democratic" than the other primary party, the Republicans. The two parties might more aptly and accurately be called the "Liberals" (Democrats) and the "Conservatives" (Republicans). Those labels come closer to describing what each party stands for. Though we're very democracy-minded here, our form of government is not really a true democracy, but is instead a republic. John
allardjd 1,853
Subject: From: Across the Pond An email from friend in Ireland ...a point to ponder regardless of your political affiliation: 'We, in Ireland , can't figure out why people in the United States are even bothering to hold an election. On one side, you have a pants wearing lawyer, married to a lawyer who can't keep his pants on, who just lost a long and heated primary against a lawyer who goes to the wrong church who is married to yet another lawyer who doesn't even like the country her husband wants to run. Now...On the other side, you have a nice old war hero whose name starts with the appropriate 'Mc' terminology married to a good looking younger woman who owns a beer distributorship and a private jet. What in Lord's name are you lads thinking over there in the colonies??'

A320cap 0
hahahaha. Dgor: Corrected the "she". Of course I didn't mean anything. It was just a typing error  I also don't want to see another republican in power.
MartinW 0
So far, judging by our poll, it looks like we are well on our way to putting Obama into office. But in regard to the real election, will the crafty ex model, vice president ploy pay dividends for McCain???
allardjd 1,853
I suspect that if the voting here was limited to those registered to vote in US elections, that might produce a slightly different result. - Just for the record, I was for McCain before I ever heard of Sarah Palin, but I like her. MartinW 0
Fibber, John fancies Sarah. :wub Just for the record, I was for McCain Somehow I figured that. :rofl
allardjd 1,853
I do like her - a lot - but I like Margaret Thatcher more. John
mutley 4,495
I don't trust Obama, I reckon he has a hidden agenda. I see the latest faux pas from Barak's camp came from running mate Joe Bidden Who admitted that Hillary Clinton would make a better democratic choice for V.P, that was after the "Pig in lipstick" jibe from the great man himself :rofl McCain's "American war hero" status will stand him in good stead and as the campaign moves ahead the Obama bandwagon will grind to a halt as it did for Gordon Brown who himself now admires and invites Maggie Thatcher to No 10 and Chequers :wub I think this is going to be an interesting one, I am quite surprised how much coverage it is getting from over here. Cheers
MartinW 0
I do like her - a lot - but I like Margaret Thatcher more. John, ask your wife to nip to the chemist, you definitely need to up the dose too. that was after the "Pig in lipstick" jibe from the great man McCain made exactly the same comment a few years ago I believe. As usual politicians take things out of context and use them to batter the opposition. I too am amazed at the interest over here, I find myself listening intently to the news broadcasts. I guess the influence you Americans have over the entire world is as strong as ever. Remember Stallone making a comment on TV a while back, on that boxing show he did, that he was going to meet the president, 'the guy who runs the world'. Won't be long before we are all praying to John, as one of the rulers of the entire multiverse. I tell you it will come.
