LORBY-SI - Camera Position X FSX P3D

Recommended Posts

I purchased this today to get a feel of its functionality. Sometimes it it really useful to have some custom camera views selectable straight from the menu rather than relying on third party programs to show alternate camera views.

With this program you can create and save aircraft and global camera views, especially useful when you fly a particular aircraft a lot and have to keep scanning around for that instrument or outside view you like.

For  €8.88 including 20% tax it's excellent value for money and available form SimMarket. http://secure.simmarket.com/lorby-si-cameraposition-x-fsx-p3d.phtml

I have had a few teething problems and it strikes me this product needs a lot of development to stop program exceptions but the resulting camera views per aircraft or global are very useful.

Both seem interesting but my question is, are either necessary if you have TrackIR?

Probably not or if you already have Ezdok.

Hello @ll,

sorry to barge in here, I have just stumbled upon this thread...

@needles: this app will not complement EZDOK or Opus, in fact, those will interfere massively with it (and with the built-in viewing system of the simulator). Both EZDOK and Opus  include a lot more functionality and they have their own camera position database, kept externally. What the CameraPosition X does is to add or edit camera definitions in the sim - you don't keep the tool running when you fly. If you need that with TrackIR is debatable, but if for example you sometimes want to switch between captain's view, FO and engineer (or passenger), maybe take a closer look at some gauges or screens while in the VC, or even adjust your default eyepoint position of the aircraft, then it might be useful.

@mutley: would you mind contacting me about the exceptions you got? The app has been through a beta test phase and we didn't pick up any framework or program exceptions.

btw. the next version 1.01 is on it's way. The operation of the external controls for camera movement has been made more intuitive (I hope). The camera will move forward/back/left/right aligned to the direction in which you are looking, and is no longer tied to the aircraft axis.

Best regards

Hi Oliver

Thanks for your feedback it really helps to have the opinion and feedback from the developer.

I will email you with the errors I have experienced, interestingly, by opting to continue from the error notification I did manage to save the camera.

I am going to be away from the sim for a couple of days but I will get back to you.

Prost!

Hi Joe,

many thanks for your reply!

Too early to tell, but this sounds an awful lot like file access problems when the app tries to write the backup files in your aircraft folder. These are not critical per se, so the app can continue, but they should not be ignored either. Could I ask you to check on your UAC settings and include that information in your email?

Many thanks and best regards

Cheers!

Hi Oliver

Will do, I will try and get as much relevant info back to you as I can, I never discount the fact the problem is down to me.

Cheers

Joe
