FSX or FSXSE

Recommended Posts

I have installed all my new hardware, just simrelated stuff and other games, big question as stated above which version?  Also want to make sure AS16, REX TD 4, QW 757, Aerosoft A320, all ORBX stuff and my Saitek Panels will work with FSX-SE?   not really bothered which one but have both versions, none installed and a new harddrive and Windows 10 OS.....

Any words of wisdom which to use, can I use DX10 Fixer with Steam or does it not need it?

Thanks

Wayne

You will have to check each addons website to see if they supply an installer for SE and probably redownload some new installers if the ones you have don't already include them. Overall it seems many users have got along well with SE and Win10 so why not take advantage of the updated version. I am also pretty sure most will work along and Steve's fixer works too. Good luck smooth sailing.:)

I use SE at the moment and my old FSX is no more :) Here is my verdict...

AS16 - I have this and it works just fine

REX TD 4 - also have this and once again, just fine

ORBX - I have a lot of ORBX scenery and it works fine, although it is all download stuff NOT DVD. My PNW DVD version works fine but cannot be patched yet due to ORBX removing that for now.

QW 757, Aerosoft A320 - I have both but never reinstalled into SE, so cannot say if they work or not

Saitek Panels - I do not own any Saitek panels unfortunately, so cannot comment on this one

Good Luck

I have the QW 757 and AS A320 working in FSX:SE. I moved from FSX boxed over Christmas, and I haven't found anything so far that wouldn't work with the Steam Edition.

I did some research and asking around before making the move, and I can't remember hearing about anything that wouldn't work with FSX:SE. I can provide a full list of my add-ons if you like.

I can't comment about Saitek Panels, though, but someone somewhere is bound to know. Try searching the AVSIM forums.

Likewise, all of my addons work with FSX SE - there were a few teething issues at first but most developers have now addressed those now.

I forgot to add, I also have used DX10 fixer in FSX SE and that works just fine as long as you get the latest version.

The ORBX issue I raised regarding the boxed version of the scenery; let me just add, this would be an issue in both FSX standard AND FSX SE - this is caused by the fact the patches cannot be found anymore until they get a way to migrate into the new FSX Central.

Cheers,

Jim

cheers guys, well after discovering with my net connection it would take 1day and 12 hours to download my FSXSE version I have gone with the classic disc, all seems to be going ok, reinstalling everyhting takes sooooo looooong, all my downloads are saved, so sim is up and running but only default AC at the mo, got AS16 and REX in along with ground textures, itching to fly now, what with being ill all over Christmas and the rebuild I have only got 3 hours in for the whole of January.....

Careful you don't get installitis, symptoms include inability to focus, mumbling and uncontrolled key pushing.:D

Sounds like you are at the ten yard line and there is always February.:)
