dodgy-alan 1,587
Always check that the fuel you have on board is enough to get you where you want to go! Thanks to the RNLI for fishing me out!
hifly 925
You've Sullyed your reputation as a pilot Al.
needles 1,013
Well looking at the water, it looks like you landed in the doldrums Al'.

brett 2,316
I can't feel sorry for you after all these years but it is a good lesson to beginners so you get my post and pic seal of approval.
Captain Coffee 2,030
Too bad you weren't flying a Focke Wulkskyvagon, I hear they float. Edited March 17, 2017 by Captain Coffee

I think I know what went wrong, I hadn't factored in the 35 knot headwind that meant groundspeed was a lot less than IAS. I was only about 10 miles from my destination when the engine quit. brett 2,316
Been there Alan. A good reason to start doing halfway point calculations whenever flying over water and something I have started doing due to my own sim brush with death.
Captain Coffee 2,030
I find myself checking headwinds much more frequently these days. Some missions in Airhauler are timed things, and sometimes (often) the timing is tight enough that a headwind will doom any chance of success.

The problem for me is inadvertent tailwinds.
