A fragrant trip, Boont-legging out of Mendocino.

Recommended Posts

Another Airhauler trip. Two legs with an abbreviated photo journal of the trip.

I had an opportunity to air courier a cargo load, along with a couple of passengers on an Air Taxi mission up to KLMT, Klamath Falls, from D83- Booneville, Ca. Booneville is a tiny formerly sheep country, currently wine and Boutique Farming valley. D83 is a little strip in this remote-ish valley in the...notorious county for "Flower Growing", Mendocino. These are the kind of Flower Buds that can pack down into fairly smallish bales, if you catch my drifting smoke signals without me having to be Explicit, and thus Complicit.

Because as it transpires a few bales of Flower Buds were needing speedy transport to Medical Disp...Flower Shops in and around Susanville, Ca...and the Air Taxi customers were Extremely into riding along with a couple bales of pungently fragrant Flowers part way along their trip to Klamath...for their own reasons as it transpires.

I am flying Carenado's updated C-337 Skymaster. A venerable bird that just got an HD texture update to V2.

Ready for boarding, the very well compressed Flowers are stashed in the luggage compartment, behind the rear seats, and a couple of smaller packages under the seats...it is quite the Air Freshener indeed despite all the layers of packaging.

Only a hint of the updated landing gear show here, but they seam more detailed in this new version with more detailing and more hub texturing. Caveat, I only fly at 2xxx max textures...this thing can look better I assume. Even so it looks like there are spots here and there that missed the upgrade, I don't  have a good shot of it here, but the door handle on the exterior is the most obvious one that I spotted...on closer zoom levels it pixelates rather badly.

Without much fanfare we leave VFR for Susanville.

Over Ukiah on our way to the N.Central Valley.

Possibly a glitch on my side, but there is an angle for each Nav light where they show up as flat planes, but then return to normal once panned off of that particular angle...weirdness.

See how it is fading out...

Entering the N.Central valley. NorCal!

A VC view, looking up the center of the valley...looks like all the textures inside have been given a once over, everything looks a bit crisper, more complete, texturing looks more up to current Carenado standards after the update.

We've crossed the valley and are starting across the ridges to Susanville.

She is up ahead on the banks of that large lake ahead. Eagle Lake and Spaulding Airport actually...about 30+ miles north of Actual Susanville which probably has issue with Flowers being delivered at that much busier Municipal Airport. Spaulding on the other hand is a sleepy little strip with about a dozen mostly unused parking spots along side of the main road, The Strand...perfect for these smelly bundles to be whisked away to the ...local Flower Shops.

On final to Spaulding.

No photos permitted at Spaulding per the request of the ... Ground Couriers.

So, here we are shortly after leaving Spaulding and a pungent smell arises from the rear...one of the Pax pinched a few Flowers and had the nerve to light up...I mean Smell... them while in the air. OMG! Well their Satisfaction rating Leaped to 100% so I guess I shouldn't complain Too much...still...it will take a lot of Actual Air Fresheners to clear out the fragrance the Du$%^SS left behind. And I sure hope I don't hear from the Flowers customer about a tampered with package. :(

On final to Klamath.

C337-12.jpg

Taxiing in to drop the very relaxed and satisfied passengers off, after tossing their contraband flowers out the vent window onto the taxiway...I'm dropping them over on the Cargo Side to keep their smell away from the terminals...they can walk it off hopefully.

Thanks for flying along.
