That's a well done video to help the tourist industry.:thum:

The stats are actually surprising between New York and Naples, see here. Still, Naples looks like a wonderful place to visit and if you behave street smart you should be fine, don't flash cash, jewelry or valuables around, don't walk in areas at night that aren't lit or busy, lock your bags and backpacks, put money or wallet in front pocket and so on. I would say this in any place one visits because in most cases criminals strike the unaware and easy targets.

I would rather go to Naples than many South American cities or Detroit.^_^

I actually watched a program the other day with Ross Kemp regarding Naples, that was an eye opener, but I know for sure most cities have an area or 2 that is a bit rough, but likewise most cities have fantastic areas to....I am guessing the area they showed on the program is an area tourists wouldn't go to...as for the Sun well I never read any newpapers because I don't believe most of the stuff, what with internet etc newspapers are now outdated tech with yesterdays news....

The only use for the Sun is as a way of getting the fish'n'chips dinner home, and even then I'd prefer the Inde-p ;)

Statistics aside, I think that the real problem is the general overall perception that the city gives of itself to the world when shown on the media. I'm thinking, as an example, of Gomorrah serie which of course tells a story of something that really exists, but belongs to some bad guys and degraded suburbs. Everyday life is pretty normal instead, and even in Scampia, the district where Gomorrah's stories develop between drugs and murders, there are lots of other activities. My sister in law often goes there for some social activities to keep the children away from that loose business. Of course, as a tourist, I guess you will never go there.

The words not spread are about the huge crowd of people animating the historical center every day, the 2.500 years of history, the emotion of walking on the same streets traced by the ancient greeks, the unique view of architectural witnesses of all this history altogether, the classic music coming out from the conservatory windows, the irresistible scent of unique food and fresh coffee, the breathtaking view on the bay.

When Bill Womack (which I think all of you know as flight sim enthousiasts) came here in Naples and we met, he has had a bit of the real taste of this city, which is the only place I can live on Earth! :)

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the soft humour and irony of the video above, which is another characteristic of the people living in this wonderful town.

See you in Naples one day!
