wain 879
my first job at my new AH2 company in my new ORBX area, took advantage of their sale and picked up Southern California, set up a base at KSEE Gillespie, first menaingful flight to Twenty nine palms, uneventful except the landing, schoolboy error and forgot I was in A36 and not 182, forgot to drop the gear, landed amidst a huge display of sparks, however AH gave me a smooth landing, Slopey said he will look into that......first flight also since the REX TD HD Enhanced update........ brett 2,316
California doesn't have that nice green look you get from up north but it sure is a great place to fly, thanks for the Pics. Enjoy the new base and the best of luck opening this new base. Fun Fact: Did you know your new base started out as a USMC parachute training base(1942)? Another Fun Fact: A gumps check is widely taught and used by many pilots before landing, even when flying fixed gear aircraft. G – Gas (Fuel on the proper tank, fuel pump on as required, positive fuel pressure) U – Undercarriage (landing gear down) M – Mixture (fuel mixture set) P – Propeller (prop set) S – Seat Belts and Switches (lights, pitot heat, etc)
wain 879
Thank you guys... Interesting info there Brett... Seems after posting about this over on AH forums it's a lot more common than I thought.. Both in sim and real life.. Have to try and remember gumps...
brett 2,316
Yeah, way to common and I admit to many a wheels up landings when switching from fixed undercarriage aircraft. Now I use the GUMPS no matter what I fly.
Captain Coffee 2,030
Nice set Wayne. I have been guilty of accidentally practicing wheel up landings...just like Brett says, usually when going from a bunch of flights in a fixed gear to a retract. I hope Slopey adds a Gear Down check for Retract planes...I have delivered cargo safely on my belly before...doh.
