mutley 4,495
Bad news An F-18 military jet has crashed into a residential neighbourhood in San Diego, California. The plane came down near a busy road as it approached a Marine base, starting at least one house fire. Officials say the pilot ejected but it was not immediately clear if anyone was injured. A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said the plane crashed around noon as it prepared to land at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The crash happened two miles from the base. The spokesman did not know the pilot's condition or how many people were in the plane before it crashed near Interstate 805. TV news footage showed what appeared to be the remnants of a smouldering house and two cars on fire. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7772344.stm
