Captain Coffee 2,030
Quicky haul from 1Oscar2 Lampson, Lakeport to Sacramento with a rush order of blood...a rare type, not a happy thanksgiving for someone if I don't get this cooler to KSMF in an hour. IFR thanks to overcast at KSMF Sacramento. This is actually my first Instrument approach in the Turbo Arrow. Up and away into scattered clouds, still overcast at Sac from current reports. I have a volcano, Mt. Konocti, to clear before picking up my course. I'm put on vectors to line me up with KSMF 16R, heading over the last ridges before the central valley. Descending to 2,000 through some scattered murk to intercept the GS. In line, and just barely making out the airport lights. Dials say I'm a tad high, fine by me I have plenty of runway I plan to fly over to reach a later taxiway and shorten my ground time. Looking good as I haul into clear view of the runway, AP off, easy peasy from here. Thank you Otto, you did good. Cheers, Coff. Captain Coffee 2,030
Just now, mutley said: Nice one Coff, life sure is interesting in your world, I'm sure you are being thanked for that rush delivery Courier work is variably rewarding or very boring. It's the rush jobs that make life fun. In RL I've rushed specialized sterilized surgical tools to a hospital on a very short deadline, and had Surg staff beside themselves with gratitude that I got it there 1/4 hour earlier than they expected/needed it. They had even sent Two courier companies to fetch the stuff just in case one got there a couple minutes earlier than the other...to shave minutes. That kind of work is Very rewarding, if somewhat stressful....Getting across the bay area through dodgy traffic, saving lives, without sirens or flashy lights. Fortunately that doesn't happen often, I'd prefer they send flashy lights for that kind of thing... Airhauler2 is much funner and less stressful...I can hit Pause! Thanks for your comments guys! wain 879
I remember about 7 years ago I was an owner driver with DPD, I used to deliver to the hospital in Bath first thing in the morning, take it straight to theatre reception, one day I asked what it was, being so urgent etc.....it was pacemakers for that mornings ops, talk about cutting it fine, patient was prepped ready for my parcel.....used to hate collecting samples from Path Lab though... Captain Coffee 2,030
I did a LOT of lab pickups as an on call courier. Learned very very early; A. The bigger the jar the grosser the sample. B. Never look at the contents of Path Lab jars.
