I noticed at the end the pilot significantly angled his nose into the wind just before jettisoning the chute...a procedure to ensure chutes are blown off the runway I presume? 1 Link to post Share on other sites

Even if the wind didn't take the chute the engine blast would have cleared it. But yes that was why it was done. A few years ago I was at Bournemouth when Jonathan Whaley brought one of the Hunters back in (There was a vintage jet company operating from one of the hangars at the time, sadly it has gone now.) and popped his chute on the active runway. ATC were not happy as there was a B737 inbound right behind him! Luckily the airfield crew were quick off the mark to recover the chute. 1 Link to post Share on other sites
