wisemanp 0
...keep all of my flight sim files (scenery mainly) on a separate hard drive, rather than on the computer's C drive? I didn't think it was but dad is trying to work out how to free up some hard disk space... Sorry if this should be in hardware, i wasn't sure which it should go in.
mutley 4,498
Hi Phil, I recently had the same issue but I was installing a new disk so I partitioned a section off just for FS but it is the same physical disk. I cannot see any reason why this shouldn't work on a separate drive but you may get some minute loading lag but not enough to notice. That's easy enough for me to say I know, why not try one piece of software and see how it goes? Cheers

vacs007 0
Phil Any scenery that you install into the Add-on Scenery folder in your FS root folder can be install to any non FS folder or even to a seperate drive that is not your FS drive. The only 2 issues you must be aware of is 1. when you add the scenery in your scenery lib - point to the scenery on the driver or location where you have it installed, also be sure to remove the scenery from your FS scenery lib before you move it and then re-add after you have moved it. 2. also be aware of any scenery that requires you to install parts of that scenery to other folders not in your Add-on Scenery folder, I have not tried this myself, but I am sure that you can have the parts that must be installed to the add-on scenery folder installed on the new driver and the part to be installed to another FS folder location to the instructed folder location and it should work with out any issues. Just be aware that if your primary drive is a SATA driver and the driver where you install your add-on scenery is a IDE driver you will experince some lag as Joe has correctly stated, but it should not be serious enough to spoil the experience. Be sure to always keep the drive defragged and tidy, this does help with the lag. Many have reported a gain in performance by doing this. I hope and trust this all makes sense. wisemanp 0
Thanks Wayne, I may well try this weekend with some scenery that's not important if it gets lost... My Durban scenery perhaps? Only joking ... Again thanks for the advice
