FlyBMI. A regional airline that was a spin off from BMI international announced today that it had ceased trading with immediate effect.  The thing is they were still taking bookings and customers money as late as last wednesday! But today have told customers that their flights are cancelled, they will not be issuing refunds not arranging flights with other carriers. Customers stranded abroad have been told to make alternative arrangements to get home at their own expense and then claim the money back from their card issuers! To me that is just plain dishonest and poor customer service.

It's business and probably a board decision at the last minute. I'm sure they wanted it to keep going but you can't keep putting good money into a failing operation.

Having people get their money back through card issuers is better for them then trying to get money out of a company that the banks are probably taking over.

Still a tough break for travelers on the go.

When I fist flew to America to meet the lady who is now my wife, I flew by BMI International.  It was in an Airbus 330 and was great...nice and clean with a TV screen in the headrest in front and so on.  The second trip was in an American Airlines Boeing 767....what a difference.  The latter was somewhat dated and shoddy in comparison.  Not a patch on BMI International.....sad that FlyBMI is gone....:sorry:
