mulletman 0
Hello All... This is a flight I did about a week ago now and as ever it’s taken me some time to get them actually online. Although that said, I do have a good excuse, as on this flight there were a massive 126 screenshots to sort through after landing. The flight was made overnight, I took off late Saturday night and landed early Sunday morning. It took me from a place that I had never flown before, Bangkok; to one I was very familiar with, Paris De-Gaulle. A flight distance of around 5200nm, taking me about 12 hours to complete. I really wanted to fly their longest flight, the massive 17 hours outbound/18 hours return flight between Bangkok and New York, but unfortunately the 747 didn’t have the range. That flight will have to wait until I have an A340-500. Anyway, these shots certainly came out better than I thought they would, and I hope you enjoy. All 4 are spinning and we are under our own power, and will be for the next 12 hours. Beautifully modelled terminals in this scenery. Not easy to install (as you also have to re-position all the VTBD traffic, as well as write the airport into the FMC) but worth it. The sun is rising fast as company traffic arrives. Holding short as our friend decides he is going to taxi the entire length of the 13000ft runway. Turning onto the runway, increasing the throttle and... ...before you know it we are away. No problem getting into the air. The 747 loves it. Having to fly a careful departure. VTBS is busy, and has a parallel runway, 19R. This was not a comfortable departure. There was MAJOR turbulence. We got permission to exceed 250 to help get out of the rough weather which was impending our progress. Worked out FAR better than I thought it would, did this shot. The weather shows no signs of slowing. Eventually, after 30 mins+ of flying we settle into our FL340 cruise. We have a headwind, but we are just glad to be away. After 10 and a half hours of flying (and a sleep period for me) we find ourselves in Europe. This is Prague... ...and this is Frankfurt. I pull back on the throttles and slow the aircraft down, ready for our approach. Spoilers out to descent faster, we are landing on 27R and that means we have to descend fast. But its no worry and we are soon established on finals. Traffic landing parallel. A shot taken form the tower. One of my favourites. From the Pilots perspective. Lower now. We are prepared to slam the breaks on, as the landing runways are not as long as the ones used for takeoff. Slowing up after a smooth touchdown in slight crosswinds. Taxing past Terminal 3, home of the lower cost airlines, including EasyJet. I flew form here recently (in real life) Parked up. For once the gate positions are not al illusion! The engines are off and the fuel stops flowing at long last. The PMDG 747-400, Cold and Dark. Well that’s that. This has to be a contender for greatest mostly-white livery about. I simply love it. Flew it again last night form Bangkok to Frankfurt, and it was oh so nice. Anyway, will return to shorter flights before long... Peace and Love Fred 'mulletman' Clark. dgor 0
Fred, It's hard to find words to describe those really. Really fantastic stuff. I love the Thai livery too - flew out of Phuket recently in a 737. I loved every one of those (especially the overhead edit - another stunner!) - please do keep them coming. Well done. Dave :-)
mutley 4,498
Great post and a great flight Fred. Like Dave I love the Thai livery and your shots did them proud, the PMDG model is so photogenic. You definitely haven't lost your touch with two edits with the focus blur were spot on, especially the first. Keep them coming Fred, I can never get enough  Cheers
