mike H 456
Please can anyone help me. After trying to download REX a few times and without success,I ordered a DVD after installing it, it would not load so I contacted The Flightsim store. They said they have had problems with some of their disks so sent me a new one. Great it came today, loaded OK. But here is where I need you help please. REX opened on The Configuration Manager. Step 1.FSX.CFG file location and FSX folder location I completed OK. Step 2. Run initial file backup. I clicked OK then clicked Create, then clicked OK to run Process, it came up Not Completed. But gave me a Backup file number 20100119. It now will not let me move on. I must have gone wrong somewhere. Please help me if you can Guy's. As I had it as a Xmas present and want to use it asap. Many Thanks mike H

Many Thanks mike H I've got REX2004 but it's basically the same front end system Mike. Have you tried to re-do the initial backup? It maybe that it had issues doing it initially... stu7708 244
The REX support forum usually gives quick and good answers if you can't solve the problem yourself. Just remember to include your ordernumber in your post.

mike H 456
Hi stu7708, Thanks again for the link. After some good reading on the REX forum. I uninstalled REX and all the folders it left behind along with doing a disk clean. Then reinstalled REX 1 and 2 and it's Working. All I need to do now is print off the PDF file and find out how to work it. Thanks again stu and simi for your help.
stu7708 244
No problems. Good to be able to give something back once in a while.. I feel like I'm mostly the one asking the questions It's not very hard to use, but be prepared for the fact that it will take some time to generate the textures in to FSX once you've chosen thoose you wish to use. rob16584 42
A good tip, when you load the textures into FSX go and make a drink or help with the house work, it can take 15-20mins to insert the textures. Alternatively, create a set that you are happy to fly with for a while and just keep using those textures. Once you have inserted them once into FSX they stay there until you replace them. I have a few themes created for various parts of the worl, so when I know I am going flying around Australia I will load that texture set, then will load a different set for flying around the UK
SlimNasty 0
Hi Guys, I have been using REX2 since just before Christmas and when using with Air Hauler I have no problems. I fire up Air Hauler, then REX2, then do what I need to Air Hauler and when it fires up FSX it opens a separate window for weather map and loads in the real time weather and it seems to only take about 15-30 seconds after FSX has loaded to complete loading the weather in. However if don't run Air Hauler and I fire up REX2 and then click I JUST WANT TO FLY button, it seems to take ages to load textures, even with my quad core i5 and then loads FSX where you then still have to select your aircraft and strangely the location which you already have chosen in REX2 and time and date. If I use themes and use the same themes for the locations are you saying I would get around the long drawn out wait?
stu7708 244
Hi Phil. Try to skip starting up REX2 and just start up FSX. If the settings in REX2 is correct the weather engine should start up in background as a part of the FSX startup. And since it works in AH it should work when just starting FSX too. Havn't tried the "I just want to fly" opiton in REX myself, but I suspect that it recreates the textures into FSX.
