Joe, forgive my ignorance, but when does the first flight actually depart? (I know bidding window opens tomorrow).

Jack :thanks:

Hey Jack!

No problem, I know you are new to the Challenge.

The timetable will go something like this:

Friday 5th March: We start accepting bids from registered pilots at 20:00 GMT (Hence the pre-registration opening now, got your reg thanks!)

Saturday 6th March: We will start to award the first flights around Midday, you will be notified by email.

The pilot who wins the first flight can make it straight away and post as early as she/he likes. If the flight is not made and posted within 4 days it will be offered to other pilots by mail and on the forum.

All the flights following the first must be posted within the time-frame stated in the rules, after the last flight has been posted. i.e no sooner than 36 hours, no later than 4 days.

We recommend in order not to lose out on your reward points that you pre-fly if you know you may be busy when your flight comes around.

We actively encourage plenty of interesting content so sometimes you need to do a bit of investigation about your flight and it's destination etc. But that's not mandatory, it depends how much you want to get out of it.

Hope this helps? Feel free to ask more questions.

Cheers

Hey Joe that's great, glad you got the reg.

Interesting content... So things like unusual events, certain landmarks, impressive aircraft?

Hopefully if I win some aussie flights FTX won't let me down (it never does)! :thanks:

Regards,

Jack

That's right! Some people post flight plans, weather reports, fly an unusual aircraft possibly with a bit of background on the aircraft. Anything that makes an interesting post. Don't get to hung up by this though, not everyone likes doing this so just commentary or captions for the shots will do!

We have had videos, mini stories etc, I have often taken a light hearted trip with an underlying story and an attempt to be funny!

Others like Needles like to edit shots and really get into the spirit of things and always makes an entertaining post.

Cheers

Joe,

Thanks for the Banner. I couldn't find any infomation about how many points you get.

OK Eddie

"REWARD

A maximum reward of 250 Just Rewards can be earned per flight. If your flight is posted before 36 hours or later than 4 days after the previous flight has closed then this will seriously affect how many points you will be awarded. If the flight is not made then it will be offered to other pilots at the full reward value".

So 250 reward points per successful PIREP

Okay, lets hope I've gotten this right:

- You enter your Bid

- You plan your Flight using RoutePlanner (I use this anyway and it's a great piece of software)

- You do the flight

- You then post the screenshots

Is this correct? Or are there some other things I must know? Also, what is PIREPS Software (never used it before).

Jack

Jack,

You are pretty much bang on. The format is Bid, Fly, Post.

Bid when the window opens.

If you get a leg, when preparing to fly you do not have to use the flight planner (As some legs may be GA or military etc), it is there as an aid for you.

You can fly it whenever you want, but it should be posted on the forum between 36 and 96 hours after the previous leg has been posted. The PIREP simply means pilot report, and is the term we use for you posting your shots and any accompanying commentary, maps, and storyline.

Hope this helps!
