[in the airport bar]

Me - Another 2 cokes please, barman. And here's my card. (passes over Joe's card)

Barman - Coming right up Squadron Leader.

[DOOR OPENS]

Aidan - Are you Kieran?

Me - Yes - why?

Aidan - My name is Aidan Sandri and I have something for you [pulls out blue tube]

Me - Aaaahhh - the baton! Wasn't expecting you - no offence!

Aidan - Quite alright - The Red Baron couldn't make it.

Me - Right - coke?

Aidan - Please

And this carries on, the three pilots talking, until it is time to go.

Me - Well, it's been nice meeting you - good luck and have a safe journey!

Aidan - Thanks!!!! By the way, what will you use to transport the Baton?

Me - Oohh, something not noticable

The aircraft is the cancelled Avro 730!!! (Time to bend history!)

Standing on the gate, the only surviving 730, XL552, was preserved and is kept in flying condition by 617 Sqn. Ironicly, the aircraft next to us is an Aeroflot 767!

That little hatch!

-2010-jul-10-003.jpg

Push and start - the engine sounds like some Olympus 320's!

Lot's of JAL birds behind us

-2010-jul-10-006.jpg

9V-SKB.....

Up, up, and away!

-2010-jul-10-016.jpg

Pounding out

-2010-jul-10-017.jpg

Already at M1.42 - I think the flight dynamics are wrong! Bit too spritly!

A fake missile

Soon to be gone forever, an AI A330, followed by a Vietnam 777

Well, that's it for another leg. Over to Remington!

As a foot note, on Google maps, type in From : Toyko Narita Airport and To : Taipei and look at instruction 52 - Jet Ski across the Pacific Ocean - 782km!!!

A great ATWC Leg, Kieran - very enjoyable. Nice choice of aircraft - as usual! - and a well chosen set of screen shots with narrative to match. Thanks for sharing. :thum:

Only one question.....

......And this carries on, the three pilots talking, until it is time to go.

Was Joe really with you - he's not usually that quiet!

Cheers - Dai.
